In Blaine, WA geht alles nach festen Regeln. Zuerst stehen wir fast eine Stunde im Stop & Go, bis wir an die erste Grenzstation kommen. Dort bekommen wir einen Zettel f\u00fcr die Autokontrolle und werden dann auf dem Parkplatz eingewiesen. Anschlie\u00dfend gehen wir ins Zollgeb\u00e4ude. Der erste Weg f\u00fchrt uns zu einem Immigration Officer, der uns auf deutsch begr\u00fc\u00dft. Nach einigen Fragen wird unser Visa bis 31.01.2018 genehmigt. Nun m\u00fcssen wir noch pro Person $ 6 bezahlen und durch die Zollkontrolle. Bis zu vier Beamte schauen sich das Innere von Albatros an. Zwei Paprika d\u00fcrfen nicht mit in die USA einreisen und dann bekommen wir unsere P\u00e4sse zur\u00fcck und k\u00f6nnen weiter fahren.
\nUnser erster Stop ist in Bellingham bei REI, einem gro\u00dfen Outdoor Ausstatter. Danach besorgen wir uns erstmal USD und machen zwei Tanks voll. Zu unserer Freude kostet der Diesel hier nur ca. \u20ac 0,55\/Liter. Anschlie\u00dfend fahren wir noch zum Amerikanischen ADAC und besorgen uns einiges an Informationsmaterial. Die Suche nach einem \u00dcbernachtungsplatz wird dann allerdings etwas schwieriger, da der angesteuerte Walmart kein Overnight Parking erlaubt. Wir werden schlie\u00dflich bei einem Gartenzenter f\u00fcndig. Am n\u00e4chsten Tag fahren wir nochmal zur\u00fcck zur Grenze, da uns nicht klar ist, was der Eintrag CAR226100 auf unserem Vias bedeutet. Es stellt sich heraus, dass das nur die Kennnummer des Immigration Officers ist. Also geht es weiter zum Harley Davidson H\u00e4ndler in Burlington. Die gesuchte Jacke bekommen wir dort leider nicht, aber sie wird f\u00fcr uns bei einem anderen H\u00e4ndler reserviert. Abends fahren wir dann nochmal zur\u00fcck nach Bellingham, wo ein Motorradtreffen stattfindet. Entgegen unserer Erwartung ist das aber in einer Kneipe in der Stadt und so fahren wir abends ein St\u00fcck den Chuckanut Drive um einen Stellplatz zu finden. Aber auch hier ist das nicht so einfach. In einem der Prospekte vom ADAC finden wir einen Wanderparkplatz, auf dem \u00dcbernachten erlaubt ist. Wenn wir schon mal hier sind, k\u00f6nnen wir morgens auch mal schnell den kurzen Weg zum Cedar Lake laufen. Mit diesem Gedanken machen wir uns auf den Weg und sind ziemlich geschafft, als wir ca. 2 \u00bc Stunde sp\u00e4ter wieder am Auto zur\u00fcck sind, denn es ging stetig bergauf und wir haben auf 2 km L\u00e4nge ca. 250 H\u00f6henmeter \u00fcberwunden. In Lynnwood holen wir die Jacke bei Harley Davidson ab und d\u00fcrfen auch auf dem Parkplatz \u00fcbernachten. Inzwischen ist der Himmel ziemlich bedeckt, denn es kommen Rauchwolken von den gro\u00dfen Waldbr\u00e4nden in Kanada in unsere Richtung. Bei Temperaturen um die 30 Grad wird es dadurch sehr dr\u00fcckend und wir wissen nicht so Recht, was wir machen sollen. In der Hoffnung, dass es an der K\u00fcste besser ist, fahren wir noch nach Edmonds. Dort laufen wir \u00fcber den Pier und beobachten Krabbenfischer. Weiter fahren wir zum Discovery Park in Seattle. Dort laufen wir einen Tag runter zum Leuchtturm und einen Tag fahren wir mit dem Bus ins Stadtzentrum. Wir besichtigen das Klondike Museum, laufen die Waterfront entlang und gehen zum Museum of Pop (MoPoP). Nach der Einsamkeit und Ruhe in Kanada sind wir von den vielen Menschen und dem L\u00e4rm ganz sch\u00f6n genervt und verlassen am n\u00e4chsten Tag das Gebiet der Grossstadt. Die n\u00e4chsten paar Tage finden wir einen Stellplatz bei \u201e2nd Hand Familie\u201c und wir k\u00fcmmern uns um Wartungsarbeiten am Unimog und B\u00fcrokram. Der Rauch ist zwar immer noch da, aber wir brechen trotzdem auf um ein paar Tage im Mt. Rainier National Park zu verbringen. Die Aussicht auf den Berg ist auch jeden Tag anders. Wir \u00fcbernachten auf dem White River Campground und machen ein paar Wanderungen bzw. einen Ausflug zum Sunrise Visitor Center. Dort Treffen wir auf Christiane und Ralf, mit denen wir den Silver Forest Trail laufen und einen sch\u00f6nen Abend am Lagerfeuer verbringen. Der einsetzende Regen sorgt jedoch f\u00fcr ein abruptes Ende. Nachdem wir uns am n\u00e4chsten Morgen verabschiedet haben, steht f\u00fcr uns noch Dumpen und W\u00e4sche waschen auf dem Program. In Carnation bleiben wir eine Nacht auf einem sch\u00f6nen Campingplatz und dann geht es zur\u00fcck zur \u201eFamilie\u201c.<\/p>\n

English Version (no translation of German text) <\/strong>
\nWe cross the border to US at Blaine, WA where everything follows strict rules. It takes us nearly an hour until we reach the first check point. The officer provides us with a piece of paper for the car check and then we are directed to the parking lot from where we go into the building. First we talk to a German speaking immigration officer. After a couple of questions we get a stamp and permission to stay in the US until 31st Jan 2018 but we still need to pay $ 6\/person and pass the inspection. Up to 4 officers have a look inside Albatros. We have to leave 2 peppers behind and then get our passports and can drive on.
\nOur first stop is at REI, a big outdoor shop, in Bellingham. Then we get some cash and fuel up two of our tanks; diesel is only \u20ac 0.55\/liter. At the AAA we get a lot of brochures, maps and information material. To find a place for the night is a bit more difficult since all Walmarts do not allow overnight parking. We finally find a place at a garden center. In the morning we drive back to the border since we were unsure if the code CAR226100 had something to do with our car. However, this is only the badge number of the immigration officer, who approved our stay. This cleared we move on to a Harley dealer in Burlington. They don\u2019t have the jacket we are looking for but they help us find and reserve one at a nearby dealer. In the evening we drive back to Bellingham for a bike meeting. It turns out that this is at a pub in the city and therefore we drive a part of the Chuckanut Drive to find an overnight place. Again this isn\u2019t easy but in one of the brochures from AAA we find a trailhead parking where we can stay. Since we are already there, we decide to take the short hike to Cedar Lake in the morning. This in mind we start and are pretty knackered when 2\u00bc hours later we are back at the car. The track was only 2 km but had an elevation of 250 meters. In Lynnwood we pick up the jacket at the Harley dealer and we can stay there for the night. Meanwhile the sky is heavily clouded since smoke is coming from the big wildfires in Canada. With temperatures around 30\u00b0 C the air is pretty heavy and we\u2019re a bit at a loss what to do. Hoping that it\u2019ll be better at the coast, we drive to Edmonds where we watch the crab fishers at the pier. We then continue to Discovery Park in Seattle. We spend one day walking the trail to the lighthouse and one day we take the bus to the city center. We visit the Klondike museum, stroll along the waterfront and go to see the Museum of Pop (MoPoP). Being used to the solidarity and quiet in Canada we are stressed by the amount of people and the noise. Therefore we leave Seattle. For the next couple of days we find a place with \u201e2nd hand family\u201c and do service work for the Unimog and some administrative stuff. Although it is still smoky we decide to go to Mt. Rainier National Park for a couple of days. The view of the mountain is different every. We stay at the White River Campground and go for some short hikes and a trip to the Sunrise Visitor Center. There we meet Ralf and Christina. Together we walk the Silver Forest Trail and spend a nice evening at the campfire. Unfortunately it starts raining and we have to abruptly end the day. After saying our goodbyes in the morning, we need to find a dumping station and a laundry. We stay one more night on a nice and quiet campground in Carnation and then we drive back to see the \u201efamily\u201c again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
