Mahone Bay ist ein kleiner beschaulicher Ort mit knapp 1.000 Einwohnern, dessen Stadtbild durch alte Holzh\u00e4user, den Hafen und 3 direkt nebeneinanderliegenden Kirchen gepr\u00e4gt ist. Da wir immer noch auf die Dieselpumpe warten, die inzwischen in Kanada in der Zollbearbeitung ist, kommen wir hier in den n\u00e4chsten Tagen \u00f6fters durch. <\/p>\n

Der f\u00fcr Samstag angek\u00fcndigte Flohmarkt auf dem Campingplatz ist deutlich kleiner, als wir erwartet hatten. Nur ca. 15-20% der Camper bieten was an. Besucher von au\u00dferhalb fahren die ganze Zeit mit ihren Autos \u00fcber den Platz und halten Ausschau. Als Ralph am Nachmittag die fehlenden Keilriemen f\u00fcr die Klimaanlage einbaut, versammeln sich sofort ein paar M\u00e4nner und stehen ihm mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Leider ist anschlie\u00dfend die Batterie platt (hat aber nichts mit den M\u00e4nnern zu tun) und wir m\u00fcssen 2 Tage warten, bis wir eine neue bekommen. Wir nutzen die Zeit zum W\u00e4sche waschen, Brot backen und diverse Servicearbeiten am Auto auszuf\u00fchren.<\/p>\n

Als Albatros endlich wieder l\u00e4uft, fahren wir nach Bridgewater um unsere Vorr\u00e4te aufzuf\u00fcllen. Auf dem Parkplatz im Einkaufszentrum sorgt Albatros wieder f\u00fcr jede Menge Aufmerksamkeit und wird von allen Seiten fotografiert. Auf dem Weg zur Bank wird Ralph von einem Ehepar auf deutsch angesprochen. Es sind Kanadier mit deutschen bzw. schweizer Wurzeln. Wir unterhalten uns ein bi\u00dfchen und ehe wir uns verabschieden sprechen die beiden noch die Einladung aus, da\u00df wir sie, wenn wir in der N\u00e4he sind, besuchen sollen. Schnell wird noch die Adresse aufgeschrieben und dann geht es weiter. <\/p>\n

Am n\u00e4chsten Tag sprechen wir auf der Post in Mahone Bay das erwartete Paket mit der Dieselpumpe an und der Mann sagt, er kann es f\u00fcr uns festhalten und wir k\u00f6nnen es dann bei ihm abholen. Er schreibt sich die Tracking-Nr., unseren Namen und die Zustelladresse des Campingplatzes auf und sagt, dass das alles kein Problem ist und wir nicht noch weiter auf dem Campingplatz warten m\u00fcssen \u2013 hoffen wir das Beste. An dem Tag fahren wir noch nach Liverpool und von dort aus \u00fcber die Lighthouse Route entlang einer traumhaft sch\u00f6ne K\u00fcste zur\u00fcck Richtung Mahone Bay. Da es ziemlich sp\u00e4t geworden ist, nutzen wir bei La Have eine Abk\u00fcrzung indem wir mit einer kleinen F\u00e4hre die Bucht \u00fcberqueren. Auch hier ist Albatros wieder die Attraktion f\u00fcr alle.<\/p>\n

Am Freitag checken wir am Campingplatz aus und fahren Richtung Kejimkujik Nationalpark. Dort wollen wir endlich ein paar Tage die Natur genie\u00dfen und unser Kanu auspacken. Auf dem Weg dortin kommen wir durch den Ort, in dem die Kanadier wohnen, die uns in Bridgewater eingeladen haben. Unser Navi findet die Adresse nicht. Ich hatte aber vorher schon nachgeschaut und wu\u00dfte daher, das das Haus am s\u00fcdlichen Ende des Little Tupper Lake liegt. Als ich dann direkt \u00fcber den Bildschirm suche, zeigt das Navi auch die Strasse an; versteh einer die Technik. Die Hausnummer zu finden ist dann nicht so schwierig. Wir werden schon in der Einfahrt freundlich begr\u00fc\u00dft. Dann zeigen Eve und Charly uns einen Teil ihres Grundst\u00fcckes; eine riesige Fl\u00e4che Wald, 2,5 km Seezugang und mehrere sch\u00f6ne Stellplatzm\u00f6glichkeiten. Hier k\u00f6nnen wir es sicherlich ein paar Tage aushalten und wir fragen uns, ob es sich \u00fcberhaupt lohnt, in den Nationalpark zu fahren. Der ist bestimmt nur voll mit Menschen. Wir entscheiden uns f\u00fcr einen Platz ca. 500 Meter vom Haus und ca. 20-30 Meter von der \u201eBadeanstalt\u201c entfernt. Hier h\u00f6rt man au\u00dfer der Natur nichts. Wir kommen uns vor, wie im Paradies. <\/p>\n

Nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck geht Ralph hoch zum Haus. Wir wollen unser Kanu aufbauen und Charly ist an unserem Faltkanu interessiert. Wie das dann nun mal so ist, klappt der Aufbau nicht auf Anhieb und zu dritt brauchen wir bestimmt eine gute Stunde bis es bereit zum Stapellauf ist. Nachmittags gehen wir dann f\u00fcr eine kleine Runde auf den See und dann m\u00fcssen wir noch einkaufen.
\nDen Samstag verbringen wir mit Mails checken, quatschen, Berichte schreiben und Bilder suchen \u2013 Ralph kann die Bilder der letzten Tage nicht mehr finden. Heute Abend wollen wir mit Eve und Charly und Familie und Freunden zu einem Country Konzert in den n\u00e4chsten Ort. Davon berichten wir dann im n\u00e4chsten Blog.<\/p>\n

English Version (no translation of German text)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mahone Bay is a small village with approx. 1,000 inhabitants. Its center consists of old wooden houses, a nice harbor and 3 churches directly side by side. Since we are waiting for the diesel pump \u2013 it is now with Canadian customs \u2013 we\u2019ll see quite a bit of it over the next couple of days.<\/p>\n

The yard sale on Saturday is not what we expected. Only 15-20% of the campers offer stuff. Visitors cruise the campground with their cars looking for something interesting. In the afternoon Ralph starts replacing the missing V-belts for the AC. It doesn\u2019t take long and a couple of men are gathering providing tips and help. Unfortunately we have a new problem afterwards (not related to the men\u2019s involvement): The battery is now dead. It takes 2 days to get a new one delivered. We make best use of the time and do some housework; washing, baking and servicing the car.
\nOnce Albatros is running again, we drive to Bridgewater to do some shopping. On the parking lot Albatros is the main attraction. People stop to take pictures from all sides. On the way to the bank a couple approaches Ralph in German. They are Canadians with German\/Swiss roots. We talk for a while and before we part they invite us to visit them when we pass through their town.<\/p>\n

The next day we talk to the guy at the Canadian post in Mahone Bay about our expected parcel. He says it is no problem to stop it so that we can pick it up at their office. He notes down the tracking number, our name and the address of the campground. No need to stay on the campground any longer. We drive to Liverpool via highway and then take the Lighthouse Route which leads us along very nice coastal areas back to Mahone Bay. <\/p>\n

On Friday we check out at the campground and drive towards Kejimkujik national park where we want to enjoy the nature for a couple of days and do a bit of canoeing. On the way we pass through the hometown of the Canadians who invited us in Bridgewater. Our GPS can\u2019t find the address but since I already checked, I know they are living at the southern edge of Little Tupper Lake. When searching this on the screen, the GPS shows the street name; don\u2019t ask me why earlier it didn\u2019t know it. To find the house is then easier and we receive a friendly welcome already in the drive way. Eve and Charly show us part of their ground; a huge area of forest, 2.5 km access to the lake and some very nice options for us to camp. We can imagine staying here for a couple of days and are actually wondering, if it is worth going to the national park at all. It probably is only full of people. We finally take camp about 500 meters away from the house and 20-30 meters to the swimming area in the lake. There is no sound except nature. We feel as if we are in paradise.<\/p>\n

After breakfast Ralph walks up to the house. We want to assemble our canoe and Charly was interested in it yesterday. As it turns out it is not as easy as thought and together it takes us a good hour to get it ready. In the afternoon we enjoy a short canoe trip on the lake and then leave for some shopping.
\nOn Saturday we check our mails, chat with Eve and Charly , write the next blog and search pictures \u2013 Ralph can\u2019t find the pictures from the last couple of days anymore.
