Nachdem wir den Zion NP verlassen haben, zieht es uns jetzt Richtung Valley of Fire.Bei einem Einkaufsstop in Washington treffen wir dann die Wolfenb\u00fcttler wieder, die auch in die Richtung fahren. \u00dcber die Interstate 15 fahren wir an einem Tag durch 3 Staaten; Utah, Arizona & Nevada. Zuerst f\u00fchrt uns die Strecke durch das enge Virgin River Valley. Dahinter \u00f6ffnet sicht dann eine riesige Pr\u00e4rie mit gro\u00dfen Yuccas und dem Gebirge im Hintergrund. Wir sehen die ersten Casinos aber auch das Klima hat sich ver\u00e4ndert. In den G\u00e4rten stehen jetzt gro\u00dfe Palmen und bl\u00fchende B\u00fcsche. Unsere Tagesziel ist f\u00fcr heute Overton bzw. ein riesiges Plateau, auf dem jede Menge Wohnmobile stehen ein paar Kilometer weiter. Von hiere hat man einen tollen Blick \u00fcber das Tal und die Berge. Den n\u00e4chsten Tag verbringen wir haupts\u00e4chlich in der Library ehe wir uns auf den Weg zum Pomengranate Arts Festival machen. Wir hatten allerdings nicht damit gerechnet, dass hier nachmittags um 15:00\/16:00 h der Abbau schon voll zu Gange ist. Wieder verabschieden wir uns von den Wolfenb\u00fcttlern und fahren ins Valley of Fire wo wir uns auf dem Campingplatz Altatl f\u00fcr 2 N\u00e4chte registrieren und nur noch den kurzen Trail zu den Wandmalereien laufen. Als wir noch fr\u00fchst\u00fccken, f\u00e4hrt der wei\u00dfe MB 813 aus Gelesenkirchen an uns vorbei, den wir schon Ende Juni in Terrace, Kanada gesehen hatten. Wir fahren als erstes den Scenic Loop mit Arch Rock und Beehives. Dort sehen wir neben der Stra\u00dfe einen Schafbock mit recht ordentlichen H\u00f6rnern. Als n\u00e4chstes fahren wir die White Domes Road. Wir machen den ersten Stop am Maise\u2019s Tank Trail, auf dem es einige Petroglyphen zu sehen gibt. Hier soll sich auch fr\u00fcher ein Outlaw versteckt haben. Wenn man die Gegend sieht, kann man sich das auch gut vorstellen. Weiter geht unsere Tour zum Rainbow Vista, wo wir den Canyon View Trail laufen. Als wir zur\u00fcck kommen, steht der MB neben uns. Wir unterhalten uns kurz und verabreden uns f\u00fcr abends auf dem Campingplatz. Am Fire Wave Trail halten wir nur kurz f\u00fcr ein paar Fotos an. Es war heute sehr hei\u00df und Ralph f\u00fchlt sich nicht mehr richtig fit. Daher laufe ich dann auch den White Domes Trail nur ein St\u00fcck. Den restlichen Nachmittag verbringen wir im Schatten und den Abend mit Gabi und Norbert am Lagerfeuer. Am Morgen verabschieden wir uns wieder und fahren weiter nach Las Vegas, wo wir als erstes eine B\u00fccherei aufsuchen, um unsere Mails zu checken. Dann fahren wir zu Freightliner, bekommen aber erst f\u00fcr den n\u00e4chsten Tag um 8:00h einen Termin. Immerhin d\u00fcrfen wir auf ihrem Parkplatz \u00fcbernachten. Als wir uns am n\u00e4chsten Morgen anmelden, stellt sich der Mechaniker etwas quer. Er wird die Ventile nur einstellen, wenn das F\u00fchrerhaus abgeklappt wird. Das bedeutet aber gute 4 Stunden mehr Aufwand. Also fahren wir unverrichteter Dinge weiter. Unseren Stellplatz finden wir direkt gegen\u00fcber von der Stratosphere. Die n\u00e4chsten Tage stehen ganz im Zeichen des Strips. Las Vegas ist die Stadt des Prunks und des Geldes. Zu jedem Hotel geh\u00f6rt ein riesiges Casino und ein Einkaufszentrum mit allen Top Marken. Die Anlagen stehen immer unter einem Motto. Im Einkaufszentrum am Cesar\u2019s Palace findet man den Trevi Brunnen und ganze nachgebaute Stra\u00dfenz\u00fcge. Am Venetian gibt es den Canale Grande mit Gondeln direkt zwei Mal; einmal auf der 1. Etage des Einkaufszentrums. Das Luxor ist pyramidenf\u00f6rmig und wird von einer gro\u00dfen Sphinx bewacht. Vor dem New York, New York steht die Freiheitsstatue und man findet sich in Manhattan wieder. Direkt nebenan steht der Eifelturm. Beim Wynn wurde ein Wasserfall angelegt und der Springbrunnen l\u00e4uft den ganzen Tag auf Musik abgestimmt. Dazu kommen dann abends noch die riesigen bunten Werbetafeln. Uns erschl\u00e4gt das regelrecht. Nach zwei Tagen brauchen wir erstmal eine Pause vom Strip und wir fahren mit dem Auto zum Town Square. Zum Abschluss haben wir uns f\u00fcr Sonntagnacht ein Zimmer im Stratosphere gebucht. Gegen Mittag klopft es an unsere Autot\u00fcr. Drau\u00dfen stehen Dagmar und Heinz, die das Schneckerl-Team getroffen hatten und von den Erz\u00e4hlungen unser Auto sofort erkannt haben. Als wir noch quatschen, kommt ein Security Mann und sagt uns, dass die Stra\u00dfe gleich f\u00fcr einen Marathon gesperrt wird und wir dann nicht mehr ins Hotel r\u00fcber kommen. Also machen wir uns auf den Weg und checken ein. Als Hotelg\u00e4ste haben wir verg\u00fcnstigten Zugang zum Tower und das lassen wir uns nat\u00fcrlich nicht entgehen. Allerdings ist Ralph doch ziemlich entt\u00e4uscht, dass er kein Stativ mit hochnehmen darf. Abends gehen wir noch Essen und morgens g\u00f6nnen wir uns das Brunch Buffet. Ansonsten genie\u00dfen wir, mal wieder ein richtiges Bett, ein Badezimmer und viel Platz zu haben.<\/p>\n

\nAfter leaving Zion NP we are now heading towards Valley of Fire. Whilst we stop for shopping in Washington we meet the travelers from Wolfenb\u00fcttel again. They are heading in the same direction. On I-15 we drive through 3 different states in one day; Utah, Arizona & Nevada. The first leg of the trip is through the narrow Virgin River Valley. Past the valley the landscape opens into a huge prairie with big yucca trees and mountains in the back. We come across the first big casinos and the climate has changed as well. The gardens are now full of big palms and blooming bushes. Our destination for today is Overton, respectively a huge plateau a couple of miles further with lots of campers. From there we have an awesome view at the valley and the mountains. We spend most of the following day at the library and then start looking for the Pomegranates Arts Festival but we did not expect that the artists are already packing their stuff at 3pm\/4pm. We say goodbye to the guys from Wolfenb\u00fcttel and drive into the Valley of Fire where we register on the campground for two days and only take the short walk to the petroglyphs before we call it a day. Whilst we are still having breakfast in the morning, the white Mercedes Benz 813 from Gelsenkirchen, which we already saw in late June in Terrace, Canada, passes by. First thing we drive the Scenic Loop with Arch Rock and Beehives and we see a bighorn sheep. Our next trip is the White Domes Road. The first stop is at Maise\u2019s Tank Trail, where one can see quite a few petroglyphs. Rumor has it, that this area was the hiding place of an outlaw. Seeing the landscape, we can easily imagine that this was the case. We continue our trip to Rainbow Vista, where we take the Canyon View Trail. Coming back we see the Mercedes Benz parked besides our Albatros. We have a short chat and then agree to meet again on the campground. At the Fire Wave Trail we only stop for a couple of photos. Today was pretty hot and Ralph is not feeling fit. Therefore I hike only the first part of White Domes Trail. We spend the rest of the afternoon in the shadow and the evening with Gabi and Norbert at their campfire. In the morning we say goodbye again and drive towards Las Vegas where our first stop is at a library to check our mails. Then we drive to Freightliner where we can make an appointment for the next morning at 8 am and we can stay on their parking lot. In the morning the mechanic refuses to adjust the valves without dismantling the driver cabin. This would mean at least 4 extra hours. Therefore we leave without anything been done. For the next couple of days we park our car directly opposite the Stratosphere, from where we explore the famous Strip. Las Vegas is the city of show and money. Each hotel has its own big casino and shopping mall with all top labels. They all have a certain theme. In the shopping mall at Cesar\u2019s Palace you can see the Trevi well. At the Venetian you can even see the Canale Grande with gondolas twice; once on the 1st floor of the shopping mall. The Luxor is shaped like a pyramid and dominated by a huge Sphinx. Outside the New York, New York you see the Freiheitsstatue and you feel as if you are in Manhattan. Next door you can see the Eiffel Tower. At the Wynn they constructed an artificial waterfall. In the evenings there additionally are huge and colorful advertisement displays. This is really knocking us off. After two days we need a break from the Strip and therefore drive to the Town Square. For Sunday night we booked a hotel room at the Stratosphere. Around lunch time we hear a knock at our camper and meet Dagmar and Heinz, who met the Schneckerl-Team and immediately recognized our car. Whilst we are still chatting a security guy drives by and tells us that the road will be closed shortly for a marathon and we will not be able to get into the hotel anymore. So we quickly pack our things for the night and check in at the hotel. The fare to the top of the tower is reduced for hotel guest. Of course this is something we don\u2019t want to miss. However, Ralph is pretty disappointed that it is not allowed to take a tripod to the top. We treat ourselves to dinner and brunch at the hotel and the rest of the time we just enjoy having a real bed, a bathroom and lots of space.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
