Nach einem gemeinsamen Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck \u2013 wir hatten ja \u00fcberraschend Herma und Manfred am Stellplatz angetroffen \u2013 fahren wir zur\u00fcck nach La Paz. Als erstes m\u00fcssen wir hier einen Parkplatz finden, dann suchen wir die Tourist Information, die in maps.me leider mit falschen Koordinaten eingetragen ist. Mit ein bisschen Kauderwelsch finden wir sie dann aber auch. Dort erkundigen wir uns nach einer W\u00e4scherei und einem Buchladen, in dem wir eine Mexikokarte bekommen. Die W\u00e4scherei finden wir nicht und der Buchladen hat keine Karten. Allerdings finden wir eine andere W\u00e4scherei und so k\u00f6nnen wir wenigstens den Punkt abhaken. Nachmittags fahren wir zur\u00fcck zu dem Stellplatz und verbringen den Abend mit Herma und Manfred. Heute ist Markttag. Wir fahren wieder in die Stadt und finden auch eine Parkm\u00f6glichkeit nicht weit vom Farmers\u2018 Markt. Schon am ersten Stand bleiben wir h\u00e4ngen und Ralph holt sich einen mexikanischen Hot Dog. Wir schlendern weiter und kaufen noch ein paar Sachen ein, ehe wir den Versuch starten, Geld zu wechseln. Von einheimischen Deutschen haben wir einen Tipp bekommen, wo wir das machen k\u00f6nnen. Nachdem die Dame 15 Minuten lang meinen Ausweis studiert hat und alles m\u00f6gliche am Computer eingegeben hat, teilt sie mir dann mit, dass ich nur Geld wechseln kann, wenn ich ein Konto bei Ihnen unterhalte. Wir laufen noch ein bisschen durch die Stadt, trinken einen Kaffee und fahren dann zu einem Campingplatz, weil wir hoffen, dort unseren Abwassertank und die Toilette entleeren zu k\u00f6nnen. Auch dort sind wir erfolgreich und m\u00fcssen noch nicht einmal was bezahlen. Den Abend verbringen wir wieder au\u00dferhalb am Stellplatz. Auch heute fr\u00fchst\u00fccken wir zusammen. Gegen 13h fahren wir in die Stadt, um Geld von der Bank zu holen. Danach laufen wir ein St\u00fcck die Promenade entlang und gehen in eines der Restaurants essen, ehe wir zum Platz zur\u00fcckfahren. Heute fahren wir weiter nach Todos Santos. Der Ort hat ein sch\u00f6nes Zentrum und es gelingt uns auch, einen Parkplatz zu finden. Als wir um die Ecke kommen, sehen wir den MAN von Irmgard und Klaus und kurz darauf auch die beiden. Wir quatschen kurz und verabreden uns dann f\u00fcr den n\u00e4chsten Tag in El Pescadero. Dort wohnen n\u00e4mlich Freunde von Pamela und David, bei denen wir stehen k\u00f6nnen und die uns hoffentlich helfen k\u00f6nnen, eine Werkstatt oder ein Ersatzteil f\u00fcr unseren Auspuff zu bekommen. Wir haben allerdings nicht damit gerechnet, dass Jim und Carla noch ein ganzes St\u00fcck hinter dem Ort wohnen. Mit ein bisschen hin und her finden wir das Haus dann auch und wir verbringen einen netten Abend mit den beiden und ihren Nachbarn Rita und Louis. Am n\u00e4chsten Tag f\u00e4hrt Jim mit uns wegen des Auspuffs los. Leider sind wir nicht erfolgreich und so \u201erepariert\u201c Ralph den Auspuff dann nochmal mit Hilfe von Randall, Jim und Louis. Diesmal kommt neben einer Bohnenkonserve noch eine Kaffeedose zum Einsatz; beides ist nat\u00fcrlich leer. Am Abend fahren wir mit Carla, Rita und Louis in den Ort, wo es eine Veranstaltung zu Gunsten eines halb abgebrannten Restaurants gibt. Am Morgen fahren wir mit Jim zum Pickleball. Dieses Spiel \u201everfolgt\u201c uns ja schon seit Fort Nelson. Nun k\u00f6nnen wir endlich sehen, wie es gespielt wird. Zur\u00fcck am Haus bearbeitet Ralph die Fotos und macht ein paar Ausdrucke f\u00fcr Carla und Jim. Den Abend verbringen wir zusammen in Todos Santos bei einem guten Essen. Eigentlich wollten wir ja heute weiterfahren, aber wir haben uns dann gestern entschieden, noch einen Tag zu bleiben um mit Carla, Jim, Rita und Louis eine Tagestour ins Landesinnere zu machen. Irgendwie klappt das mit der Navigation jedoch nicht so recht und so stehen wir nach 2 Stunden Fahrt \u00fcber alle m\u00f6glichen Off-Road Strecken wieder am Highway. Mit einem Stopp f\u00fcr ein gutes Mittagessen an der Loncheria La Garita fahren wir zum Cactus Sanctuary und dann weiter nach El Triunfo. Auch dies ist ein sch\u00f6ner Ort und wir kaufen ein Sauerteigbrot in einem kleinen Cafe. Wir laufen noch zur alten Silberschmelze \u2013 den 62 Meter hohen Turm hat Gustave Eiffel gebaut \u2013 und zum Englischen Friedhof, doch dann m\u00fcssen wir schon wieder zur\u00fcck. Nun geht es tats\u00e4chlich weiter nach Cabo San Lucas. Auf dem Parkplatz am Strand steht schon Stepelix aber seine Insassen sind nicht zu sehen. Daf\u00fcr treffen dann Herma und Manfred ein, als wir gerade los wollen. Zusammen laufen wir ein bisschen durch den Ort und am Strand entlang. Hier ist alles sehr touristisch und amerikanisch. Alle Preise sind in USD ausgeschildert und es gibt Geldautomaten f\u00fcr USD. Auch werden wir am Strand und im Hafen alle 1-2 Meter von irgendwelchen Verk\u00e4ufern angesprochen. Das Angebot reicht von Touren \u00fcber T\u00fccher, Schmuck und H\u00fcte bis hin zu Zigarren und Massagen am Strand. Als wir zum Parkplatz zur\u00fcck kommen, ist Stepelix schon weg. Die Nacht verbringen wir an der Playa las Viudas, einem sch\u00f6nen Strand mit Au\u00dfenduschen, Toiletten und M\u00fclleimern. Am n\u00e4chsten Tag wollen wir nochmal Geld wechseln, was uns dann in Cabo San Luca auch tats\u00e4chlich gelingt. Danach fahren wir aber direkt zur\u00fcck zum Strand und verbringen einen ruhigen Tag. Abends treffen noch Denise und Stefan aus der Schweiz ein. Die beiden erz\u00e4hlen, dass sie Laura und Heiri in La Gringa getroffen haben. Wir wollen \u00fcber El Triunfo zur\u00fcck nach La Paz. Die ganze K\u00fcste ist bis San Jose del Cabo mit Hotelanlagen zugebaut. Da wir das schon in Cabo San Luca gesehen haben, fahren wir ohne Stopp durch. Bei Miraflores kreuzen wir das erste Mal den Streckenverlauf der Baja 1000, einem Off-Road Rennen, dass \u00fcber die ganze Baja California f\u00fchrt, und m\u00fcssen kurz anhalten um ein Rennauto durchzulassen. Sp\u00e4ter kommen wir noch an ein paar anderen Stellen vorbei. Ganze Familien haben sich dort versammelt und genie\u00dfen den Tag. Da, wo gerade keine Rennwagen unterwegs sind, sorgen wir dann f\u00fcr ein bisschen Aufmerksamkeit. Als wir wegen Gummigeruchs kurz stoppen und die Bremsen kontrollieren, h\u00e4lt ein Mercedes G-Klasse aus K\u00f6ln. Wir unterhalten uns kurz und dann fahren wir weiter bis El Triunfo, wo wir uns im Cafe eine Pizza bestellen. H\u00e4tten wir vorher gewusst, wie gro\u00df \u201eGrande\u201c ist, h\u00e4tten wir wahrscheinlich die kleine Variante bestellt. Am Nachbartisch teilen sie sich die \u201eGrande\u201c mit 4 Personen. Kurz bevor wir gehen, treffen auch die K\u00f6lner ein. Unser Weg f\u00fchrt uns dann nach La Paz auf den Aquamarina RV Park. Dort stehen Graziella und Marcel schon seit einer Woche und warten auf ein Ersatzteil. Am Morgen fahren wir zusammen in die Stadt und finden tats\u00e4chlich einen Buchladen, in dem wir die gesuchte Stra\u00dfenkarte von Mexiko bekommen. Anschlie\u00dfend g\u00f6nnen wir uns noch einen Smoothie und dann verabschieden wir uns wieder. Wir fahren zum Strand Tecolote, weil wir denken, dass wir Stepelix dort treffen. Stattdessen kommen dann aber Irmgard und Klaus. Der Strand ist gro\u00df und es stehen einige Camper dort. Direkt vorne ist es aber recht windig und so fahren wir zusammen ein St\u00fcck nach hinten in die D\u00fcnen. Nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck fahren wir zusammen zum F\u00e4hrhafen. Irmgard und Klaus waren gestern schon da und man hat ihnen einen Preis von ca. 8.000 MNX genannt. Als wir dann gewogen und vermessen sind und die Tickets kaufen wollen, sagt die Dame am Schalter, dass es 10.052 MNX kosten soll. Klaus protestiert und dann kostet die \u00dcberfahrt nur noch 7.477 MNX. Ich sage direkt, dass ich den selben Tarif haben will. Als wir auf dem Parkplatz stehen, sehen wir Stepelix vorbeifahren. Er kommt aber nicht aufs Hafengel\u00e4nde. Kurz bevor wir ablegen, gehen wir ins \u201eRestaurant\u201c um das im Preis enthaltene Abendessen einzunehmen. Wir bekommen einen Teller mit Bohnenmus, Chorizzo, Nudelsalat und 4 kleinen Tortillas sowie ein Getr\u00e4nk. Den M\u00e4nnern reicht das nicht und gegen ein Trinkgeld bekommen sie noch einen Nachschlag. Als wir den Hafen verlassen haben, wird es doch etwas st\u00fcrmisch und so liege ich um kurz nach 19h schon im Bett. Das Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck am n\u00e4chsten Morgen sieht auf den ersten Blick fast genauso aus, wie das Abendessen. Es entpuppt sich dann aber als Bohnenmus, R\u00fchrei mit Wurst und \u00fcberbackenen Cornflakes. Dazu gibt es s\u00fc\u00dfes Brot und Kaffee. Gegen Mittag legen wir in Mazatlan an. <\/p>\n

English Version (no translation of German text)<\/strong>
\nWe have breakfast together with Herma and Manfred, whom we met to our surprise at the beach and then drive back to La Paz. Finding a parking lot for Albatros is not easy and then we realize that the GPS coordinates for the tourist information is wrong in maps.me but with our limited Spanish we manage to find it. We ask for a laundry and a bookstore where we can buy a road map for Mexiko. We don\u2019t find the laundry and the bookstore doesn\u2019t have maps. Luckily we find another laundry so at least we can tick off this task. In the afternoon we drive back to the same place as last night and spend the evening with Herma and Manfred. Today is Farmers\u2019 Market. We drive into town again and can park the car nearby. Already at the first booth we stop and Ralph enjoys a Mexican hot dog. We stroll along and buy a few things before we try to exchange money again. A German living in Mexico told us where we can do this. The lady at the counter checks my passport, enters some data in her computer to then tell me after 15 minutes, that I can\u2019t change USD without having a bank account with them. We stroll through town, drink a cafe and then drive to a campground, hoping that we can dump our waste water and toilet. We\u2019re lucky and don\u2019t even have to pay for this. We spend the night again at the small beach outside of the city. Again we have breakfast with Herma and Manfred. Around 1 pm we drive into town to get money from the ATM. Afterwards we scroll along the seafront and go for diner in one of the many restaurants before we drive back to the beach. In the morning we leave for Todos Santos, a small town with a nice center. After we parked the car and turn around the corner we see Irmgard\u2019s and Klaus\u2019 MAN and shortly thereafter we see them as well. We have a short chat and agree to meet tomorrow in El Pescadero, where we can stay with Pamela\u2019s and Dave\u2019s friends. We hope that they can help us find a garage or the spare parts for our exhaust pipe. Unfortunately we did not expect that Carla and Jim live still a bit outside of the town. With a bit of back and forth we manage to find their place and we spend a nice evening together with them and their neighbors Rita and Louis. In the morning Jim drives us to a couple of garages and shops but we are not successful and so Ralph \u201cfixes\u201d the exhaust pipe with the help of Randall, Jim and Louis. This time they use a bean tin and a coffee tin; of course both are empty. For dinner we join Carla, Rita and Louis and drive to a fundraising dinner for a restaurant that partly burned down. In the morning Jim drives us to the pickleball field. We already heard about this game in Fort Nelson and now we can finally see how it is played. Back at the house Ralph works on the photos and makes a couple of print outs for Carla and Jim. We spend the evening together at a very nice restaurant in Todos Santos.
\nInitally we had planned to leave today but yesterday we decided to stay another day and join Carla, Rita, Jim and Louis on a daytrip into the outback. Somehow the navigation doesn\u2019t work properly and after two hours driving along all kind of back country roads, we are back at the highway. With a very nice lunch break at Loncheria La Garita we move on to the Cactus Sanctuary and then to El Triunfo, a nice little town where we buy a sourdough bread in a small caf\u00e9. We visit the old silver furnace, with its 203 ft tower built by Gustave Eiffel, and to the English cemetery but then we have to drive back. Our next destination is Cabo San Lucas. Stepelix is already at the beach parking lot but Petra and Stephan are nowhere to be seen. Instead we meet Herma and Manfred, who arrive just as we are planning to for a walk. Together we stroll through the town and along the beach. Everything is very touristy and American. All prices are in USD and there are even ATMs for USD. At the harbor and along the beach there are street vendors trying to sell us something every 1-2 meters. They offer everything from tours, scarves, jewelry, hats to cigars and massages on the beach. Stepelix is already gone when we come back to the parking lot. We spend the night at Playa las Viudas, a nice beach with outside showers, toilets and garbage bins. Our only plan for the next day is to change money and we are successful in Cabo San Luca. Once done we drive back to the beach and spend a quiet afternoon. In the evening a Swiss couple arrives as well and they tell us that they met Laura and Heiri in La Gringa. Via El Triunfo we are now going back to La Paz. The whole coastal area up to San Jose del Cabo is covered with resorts. Since we already saw a lot of them in Cabo San Luca, we don\u2019t stop again. Close to Miraflores we cross the route of the Baja 1000, an off-road race leading through whole Baja. We have to stop to let one of the race cars pass. Later we pass a couple more of these check points. Whole families gather and enjoy the day. At those check points where people are still waiting for the racecars, we attract quite a bit of attention ourselves. At one point we stop to check our brakes since we smell something strange and then a Mercedes G type from Cologne stops. We have a short chat and then continue our way towards El Triunfo, where we order a pizza at the caf\u00e9. If we\u2019d known upfront how big \u201cgrande\u201d is, we would have order a small one. At one of the tables 4 people are sharing one pizza \u201cgrande\u201d. Shortly before we leave the couple from Germany arrives as well. We continue our drive to La Paz and check in at Aquamarina RV Park, where Graziella and Marcel are waiting for a spare part for over a week now. In the morning we drive into town together and we manage to find a bookstore where we get the road map of Mexico we\u2019d been looking for. We enjoy a smoothie at a caf\u00e9 and then say good bye again. We drive to the beach at Tecolote expecting to see Stepelix there. Instead Irmgard and Klaus turn up. The beach is pretty big and there are quite a few campers. Close to the water it is pretty windy and therefore we park back into the dunes for the night. After breakfast we drive to the ferry terminal. Irmgard and Klaus were already there yesterday and they have a price offer of something around 8,000 MNX. After all measures were taken and we passed the scales, we buy the tickets at the counter but the lady is asking for 10,052 MNX. Klaus explains that the day before they gave him a different price and then he only needs to pay 7,477 MNX. I immediately tell the lady that we want the same price. Whilst waiting on the parking lot we see Stepelix pass by but they don\u2019t turn into the ferry terminal. After boarding and shortly before we leave port we go to the \u201crestaurant\u201d to get our free dinner (included in price). We get a plate with mashed beans, chorizzo, pasta salad and 4 small Tortillas and a soft drink. For a small tip the men get a second plate. After leaving the harbor it gets a bit stormy and therefore I\u2019m already in bed shortly after 7 pm. At first glance, the breakfast (although included in price) looks the same as dinner but it turns out to be smashed beans, scrambled eggs with sausage and baked cornflakes. Additionally we get a roll of sweet bread and coffee. We arrive in Mazatlan around lunch time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
