Obwohl Honduras sicherlich auch einiges Sehenswertes zu bieten hat, haben wir von Anfang an geplant, das Land auf dem k\u00fcrzesten Weg zu durchqueren. Die meisten Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten befinden sich im Norden des Landes, das schlecht erschlossen ist und daher ideal f\u00fcr die unterschiedlichen Drogenmafias, die es hier immer noch gibt. Uns ist das Risiko, in diesem Gebiet irgendwo mit technischen Problemen liegen zu bleiben oder gar ungewollt in einen Drogenkrieg zu geraten, im Vergleich zu dem was wir dort zu sehen bek\u00e4men, dann doch zu hoch. Vulkane, Seen und arch\u00e4ologische Ausgrabungen gibt es in ganz Zentral Amerika. Um die Strecke an einem Tag zu fahren, sind wir schon um 6:30h auf. Als wir zur Grenze kommen, sehen wir eine lange Schlange parkender LKWs. Wir hatten jedoch in iOverlander gelesen, dass wir als Tourist einfach vorbeifahren k\u00f6nnen. Kurze Zeit sp\u00e4ter springt ein Grenzhelfer auf. Er stellt sich als Renee vor und da wir von anderen Reisenden geh\u00f6rt hatten, dass er sehr gut und fair sei, beschlie\u00dfen wir seine Hilfe in Anspruch zu nehmen. Urspr\u00fcnglich sagt er, dass wir entscheiden, wie viel wir ihm geben. Er spricht aber auch von USD 5 pro Fahrzeug. Auf einmal sind es dann jedoch USD 10, die Ralph ihm auch gibt, nachdem wir aus El Salvador ausgereist sind. Ralph hat nicht daran gedacht, dass wir ja auch die Einreiseprozedur in Honduras mit ihm machen. Als wir alle Formalit\u00e4ten erledigt haben, will er dann USD 25 pro Fahrzeug. Wir sind zwar etwas sauer \u00fcber das Verhalten, aber er hat uns wirklich z\u00fcgig \u00fcber die Grenzen gebracht. Da wir nur USD 50 haben, gibt Ralph sie ihm und sagt, dass w\u00e4re f\u00fcr zwei Fahrzeuge. Ein St\u00fcck weiter werden wir bei einem anderen Mann nochmal angehalten und der will dann von uns allen zusammen USD 100 daf\u00fcr, dass wir nicht durch die Desinfektion und den Scanner mussten. Da platzt mir der Kragen und ich werde etwas lauter und w\u00fctend. Nach einem kurzen aber heftigen Wortwechsel k\u00f6nnen wir dann ohne zu zahlen weiterfahren. Mal gut, dass ich da noch nicht wusste, das Renee die USD 25 auch bei den anderen beiden Autos kassiert hat. Wir haben also insgesamt USD 60 f\u00fcr seine \u201eHilfe\u201c bezahlt. Am sp\u00e4ten Nachmittag sind wir dann an der Grenze zu Nicaragua. Die Ausreise aus Honduras ist v\u00f6llig problemlos. Bei der Einreise nach Nicaragua m\u00fcssen wir noch etwas warten. Es gibt wohl seit kurzem eine Regelung, dass man vorher eine Einreisegenehmigung per Email beantragen muss. Das Formular sieht zwar eher so aus, als w\u00fcrde es nur die Einreise zu beruflichen Zwecken betreffen, aber wir haben es alle ausgef\u00fcllt und eingeschickt. Herma & Manni\u00a0 haben allerdings noch keine Antwort erhalten und die Einreisebeamten m\u00fcssen das erst noch kl\u00e4ren. Mit Hilfe einer Beamtin finden wir einen Stellplatz kurz hinter der Grenze auf einem Acker.<\/p>\n

Leider habe ich auf der Fahrt keine Fotos gemacht. Daher zeigen wir euch hier mal eine Auswahl an typischen Situationen und Ausblicken im Stra\u00dfenverkehr aus ganz Zentralamerika.<\/p>\n

Although we\u2019re sure that there are some interesting sights in Honduras, we always planned to cross the country on the shortest route. Most of the sights are in the north where there is no good infrastructure and therefore lots of hiding places for drug dealers. The risk of getting stuck in this area or even getting into a drug war by accident seems too high compared to what we would see. There are volcanoes, lakes and archaeological sites all over Central America. In order to manage the crossing in one day, we get up at 6:30 am. Once we approach the border, we see a long row of parking trucks. However, in iOverlander we already read that as tourist we can just pass by. Shortly thereafter one of the helpers hops onto our truck. He tells us his name is Renee and since we already had heard from other travelers that he was good and fair, we agree to use his service. Initially he tells us, that we decide how much we want to give but he is talking about USD 5 per car. Suddenly he tells us that we have to pay USD 10 which Ralph already gives him after we exited El Salvador. Ralph did not have in mind, that Renee would lead us through the entering process in Honduras as well. After we have gone through all formalities Renee asks for USD 25 per car. We are a bit peeved but he ensured that the process was relatively fast and smooth. Since we only have USD 50 Ralph gives him the money and tells him, that this is for two cars. A bit further down the road another man is waiting and we stop again. This guy wants USD 100 for all three cars, saying that they ensured we didn\u2019t have to go through the fumigation and the scanner. \u00a0That was the last straw and I get mad at them. After a short but hefty quarrel we can move on without any further payment. A good thing for them that at this time I did not yet know, that Renee collected the USD 25 from both other cars. All in all we paid USD 60 for his \u201chelp\u201d. We reach the border to Nicaragua in the late afternoon and exit Honduras without any issues. The entering process in Nicaragua takes a bit longer. Obviously there is a new requirement that you have to request a permission to enter the country via email. Although the form looks more like it is designed for professional visits we all completed and mailed it. However, Herma & Manni did not receive an answer and we have to wait for the immigration officers to deal with this. With the help of one of the immigration officers we find a place for the night shortly after the border.<\/p>\n
