Wir haben schlecht geschlafen und sind schon um 6h auf den Beinen. Kurz vor 8h machen wir uns mit Herma & Manni und Marion & Bernd auf den Weg zur Grenze. Dank unserer Vorbereitung, diversen Erfahrungen bei fr\u00fcheren Grenz\u00fcberg\u00e4ngen und guten Informationen in iOverlander schaffen wir alle 3 Fahrzeuge und die 6 Insassen innerhalb von einer Rekordzeit von etwas \u00fcber einer Stunde \u00fcber die Grenze zu bringen. Die Stra\u00dfen in Panama sind in gutem Zustand und wir kommen schnell voran. Wir fahren nicht weit und schlagen unser Nachtlager f\u00fcr die n\u00e4chsten Tage im Garten der Pension Topas in Boquete auf. Mit Tankstop und einem Besuch bei McDonalds treffen wir dort gegen Mittag ein und es sch\u00fcttet mal wieder wie aus K\u00fcbeln. Der Garten ist zwar klein, aber wir finden f\u00fcr alle 3 Fahrzeuge einen Platz. Den n\u00e4chsten Tag verbringen wir mit Faulenzen und dem Besuch einer W\u00e4scherei. Ab Mittag regnet es. Nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck nehmen wir uns ein Taxi und lassen uns zum Anfang des Pipeline Trails fahren. Die Wanderung ist sch\u00f6n und wir sehen viele interessante Blumen. Gegen 12:30h sind wir zur\u00fcck am Platz und ab 13:30h regnet es wieder.\u00a0Den Nachmittag verbringen wir mit Putzen, Lesen, eMails und Bildbearbeitung. Am Morgen hei\u00dft es dann Abschied von Marion & Bernd zu nehmen. Danach erledigen wir noch etwas Schriftverkehr und machen einen Spaziergang durch den Ort. Als es gegen Mittag wieder anf\u00e4ngt zu regnen, gehen wir zur\u00fcck zum Platz. Gegen 10h geht es auch f\u00fcr uns weiter. In David machen wir einen Einkaufsstop und fahren dann \u00fcber die PanAm weiter. Die Stra\u00dfe ist in gutem Zustand und wir kommen gut voran. Nur einige LKWs halten uns auf. So erreichen wir schon um 13:30h unser Tagesziel Las Lajas; inzwischen haben wir uns ja auf die nachmitt\u00e4glichen Regenf\u00e4lle eingestellt. Wir verbringen zwei Tage mit Strandspazierg\u00e4ngen und Faulenzen\u00a0in Las Lajas. Nachmittags gibt es an beiden Tagen ordentliche Gewitter. Als wir morgens auf dem Weg zur\u00fcck zur PanAm sind, treffen wir zwei deutsche Motorradfahrer, die zu Hause nur ungef\u00e4hr 10 km entfernt wohnen. Auch heute fahren wir wieder nur ein kurzes St\u00fcck bis zum Campamento Evangelico La Buena Esperanza. Die Anlage geh\u00f6rt der Kirche und wird von Erika und Heinz aus der Schweiz betrieben. Die beiden leben seit \u00fcber 30 Jahren hier und sind Angestellte der Kirche. Da das Campamento ziemlich abseits liegt, sind sie zum gro\u00dfen Teil Selbstversorger. Auf dem Gel\u00e4nde stehen Mangob\u00e4ume (von denen wir uns reichlich bedienen), Avocados und Kokospalmen. Erika schenkt uns zur Begr\u00fc\u00dfung etwas selbstgebackenes Brot und auch sonst sind sie sehr hilfsbereit. Wir bedanken uns f\u00fcr die Gastfreundschaft, indem wir neben einer Spende unsere Vorr\u00e4te durchgehen und alles abgeben, was wir bis zur Verschiffung nicht mehr brauchen. An unserem letzten Abend trifft noch Emanuel auf dem Fahrrad ein. Er bekommt eine Kammer und wird auch sofort von Erika zum Abendessen eingeladen. Nach 3 ruhigen (und verregneten) Tagen bei den beiden, geht es f\u00fcr uns weiter. Erst m\u00fcssen wir allerdings unsere klemmende T\u00fcr aufbekommen. Auch beim Einkaufsstopp macht sie wieder Probleme. Zum Mittagessen geht es nach McDonalds und wir erfahren, dass unser Schiff erst am 17.06. in Colon ablegt. Um 14:30h sind wir dann in Santa Clara, wo wir gegen ein Abendessen auf dem Parkplatz des Restaurants Casa Del Mare \u00fcbernachten d\u00fcrfen. Leider gibt es am Strand jede Menge Sandfl\u00f6he und am Restaurant M\u00fccken. Das Anti-M\u00fcckenspray wird jedoch kostenlos auf die Tische gestellt. Wir haben schlecht geschlafen und machen uns um 9h wieder auf den Weg, halten aber kurz darauf schon wieder an einem riesigen Artesanias Shop, den uns Erika empfohlen hatte. Nat\u00fcrlich werden wir auch f\u00fcndig und Ralph kauft sich sogar ein buntes Shirt. Anschlie\u00dfend geht es weiter bis Panama City, wo wir beim Country Inn an einer gesperrten Stra\u00dfe direkt neben dem Kanal stehenbleiben k\u00f6nnen. Wir laufen noch zum Balboa Yacht Club um das WiFi zu nutzen. Als es wieder anf\u00e4ngt zu sch\u00fctten, kommt Herma und bringt uns Schirme. Der n\u00e4chste Tag geh\u00f6rt dem Miraflores Visitor Center an den Schleusen des Panama Kanals. Leider k\u00f6nnen wir von der v\u00f6llig \u00fcberf\u00fcllten Aussichtsplattform nur ein Schiff sehen, dass durch die Schleuse man\u00f6vriert wird. Wir beschlie\u00dfen, auf dem Parkplatz zu \u00fcbernachten und nach 18h, als das Besucherzentrum schon geschlossen ist, kommen noch mehrere Schiffe durch den Kanal, die wir vom Parkplatz aus gut sehen k\u00f6nnen. Am Morgen fahren wir in die Altstadt Panama Citys. Die H\u00e4user sind teilweise sehr sch\u00f6n und gut restauriert aber einige sehen auch sehr verkommen aus. Ich habe was von einer Fronleichnamsprozession gelesen, die ich mir ansehen m\u00f6chte. Herma und Manni fahren schon in die Stadt, da wir uns nochmal mit Marion & Bernd treffen wollen. Die beiden haben ihr Schneckenhaus schon zur Verschiffung nach Cartagena abgegeben. Zusammen laufen wir noch ein bisschen durch die Stadt und beobachten eine Kinder Tanzgruppe am Zocalo. Danach gehen wir noch etwas essen und dann hei\u00dft es wohl endg\u00fcltig von Marion & Bernd Abschied zu nehmen. Wir fahren wieder zum Country Inn. Da unsere Abreise immer n\u00e4her r\u00fcckt, fahren wir zu Wilhelmsen um das weitere Prozedere abzustimmen. Da der Abfahrtstermin verschoben wurde, ist der von uns geplante 11.08.2018 der fr\u00fchest m\u00f6gliche Termin um unsere Fahrzeuge abzugeben, ohne das zus\u00e4tzliche Hafengeb\u00fchren anfallen. Wir fahren wieder zur\u00fcck zum Country Inn, \u00fcbernachten aber diesmal vor dem Hotel auf dem Parkplatz am Sportstadion. Heute wollen wir mal die Multiplaza Mall unsicher machen. Der erste Parkplatz hat eine H\u00f6henbegrenzung und am zweiten Parkplatz k\u00f6nnen wir kein Ticket ziehen. Die automatische Schranke erkennt uns nicht als Auto. Ein Securitymitarbeiter l\u00e4sst uns rein. Er sagt, wir sollen uns sp\u00e4ter wieder bei ihm melden. Er w\u00fcrde uns dann wieder raus lassen. In der Mall g\u00f6nnen wir uns eine Chair Massage. Sp\u00e4ter fahren wir dann den Causeway und stellen uns auf den Parkplatz an der Paintball Halle. Zu Fu\u00df laufen wir ein St\u00fcck die Promenade und warten auf die \u201eBlaue Stunde\u201c, da Ralph von hier ein Panorama machen will. Gegen 10h werden wir allerdings vom Parkplatz verjagt und fahren wieder zur\u00fcck zum Stadion. Am Morgen wollen wir uns f\u00fcr den n\u00e4chsten Tag vorbereiten und checken, wo wir in der N\u00e4he des DIJ \u00fcbernachten k\u00f6nnen um fr\u00fch an der Polizeistation f\u00fcr die Fahrzeugkontrolle zu sein. Von dort wollen wir zu Fu\u00df auf einen Markt laufen, den wir im Vorbeifahren von einer Br\u00fccke gesehen haben, aber lokale Polizisten halten uns auf und sagen, dass wir nicht dort lang laufen sollen, weil es zu unsicher sei. Also fahren wir wieder auf den Parkplatz am Meer und laufen noch ein bisschen durch die Stra\u00dfen. Abends treffen wir Herma & Manni und nach kurzer Absprache gehen wir fr\u00fch ins Bett. Wir stehen um 5:00h auf und fahren um 5:15h los. Das Tor an der Inspektionsstelle ist noch zu aber es warten schon andere Autos. Wir sind Nummer 4 & 5. Um 7h kommt ein Officer, h\u00e4lt eine kurze Ansprache auf Spanisch und geht dann die Autos durch. Um 7:45h sind wir fertig. Wir fahren zur Albrook Mall bis wir gegen 13:30h zur\u00fcck zum DIJ um unsere Papiere abzuholen. Um 15:15h ist auch das erledigt und wir fahren wieder zu Wilhelmsen. Dort sind wir um 16:20h fertig und machen uns auf den Weg Richtung Colon. Etwas au\u00dferhalb haben wir uns f\u00fcr die letzten Tage auf dem Campingplatz Rancho Juancho angemeldet. Durch Berufsverkehr und einen Unfall zieht sich die Fahrt jedoch ganz sch\u00f6n in die L\u00e4nge und wir kommen erst gegen 20:00h am Platz an. Eddie & Veronika, die Betreiber, erwarten uns schon und wir lassen uns von ihnen ein Abendessen kochen. Die n\u00e4chsten 3 Tage verbringen wir hier mit putzen und endg\u00fcltigem Aussortieren von allen Sachen, die wir nicht im Auto lassen d\u00fcrfen. Von der Terrasse hat man einen sch\u00f6nen Blick auf den Pazifik doch das Wetter macht uns total tr\u00e4ge. Bei Temperaturen von \u00fcber 30 Grad Celsius und einer hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit, wird jede Bewegung zur Anstrengung. Heute wird es ernst. Wir fahren zum Hafen und geben unsere Autos ab. Mit etwas Verwirrung und der Hilfe von Manni (Ralph gibt mir die Tasche mit dem Portemonnaie als er in den Zollbereich f\u00e4hrt und kann dann die Geb\u00fchr nicht zahlen) schaffen wir auch das. Danach nehmen wir uns ein Taxi und fahren zur\u00fcck nach Panama City, wo wir uns Zimmer in einem kleinen Hotel gebucht haben. Wir gehen noch schr\u00e4g gegen\u00fcber eine Kleinigkeit essen und sitzen abends noch im Hof zusammen. Nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck machen Ralph und ich uns als erstes auf den Weg, denn unser Flugzeug geht viel fr\u00fcher als das von Herma & Manni. Der Taxifahrer kennt sich aus und bringt uns gut zum Flughafen. Auch hier verl\u00e4uft alles planm\u00e4\u00dfig und so landen wir am 13.06.2019 um 9:30h wieder auf deutschem Boden und werden von Gudrun empfangen und nach Hause gebracht.<\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t sleep well and are already up at 6am. Shortly before 8am we all leave for the border. Due to some time spent on preparation, experiences from previous border crossings and good descriptions in iOverlander we mange to cross 3 cars and 6 people into Panama in a record time of slightly more than one hour. The road conditions in Panama are pretty good and we don\u2019t want to drive far. With a stop at Mc Donalds we already arrive at Pension Topas in Boquette around lunchtime, where we want to stay the next couple of days. Of course it is raining (or better said pouring) when we get there. The garden is small but we manage to fit all 3 cars in. We spend the next day with just hanging around (rain starts at lunchtime) and bringing our washing bags to a laundry. The day after we order a taxi that brings us tot he starting point of the Pipeline Trails. It\u2019s a nice hike and we see a lot of interesting flowers. We\u2019re back at the Pension around 12:30pm just before the rain starts at 1:30pm. The afternoon is dedicated to cleaning, reading, eMails and photoshopping. In the morning we say goodbye to Marion & Bernd before we deal with some paperwork and then go for a walk through town until it starts raining again. In the morning we leave as well. In David we stop to do some shopping and then we move on. Again we make good progress and reach Las Lajas at 1:30pm. We meanwhile got used to the daily rain and plan our trip accordingly. We spend two days with long beach walks and chilling in Las Lajas. On both days there are heavy thunderstorms in the afternoons. On our way back tot he PanAm we meet two German motorbikers who live just 7 miles aways from us at home. Again we only planned a short drive to Campabmento Evangelico La Veuena Esperanza. The camp is owned by the church and is managed by Erika and Heinz from Switzerland. They already live here for more than 30 years and are employed by the church. Since the camp is a bit away from the next town, they grow food on their premisses. There are lots of mango (and we take quite a few fruits) and avocado trees and coconut palms. To welcome us Erika brings us self baked bread (tastes like home) and they are both very helpful. We return the favors by not only leaving a donation but we check all our stock and give them everything we don\u2019t need anymore. On our last evening Emanuel arrives with his bike. He can sleep in a small chamber and Erika immediately invites him for dinner. After 3 quiet (and rainy) days we say goodbye but then our cabin door is jammed. We have lunch at McDonalds and learn, that our ship will leave Colon on 17th June (and not 11th June). At 2:30pm we reach Santa Clara where we can stay for the night on the parking of restaurant Casa Del Mare fort he price of a dinner. Unfortunately the beach is full of sand flies and the restaurant is full of mosquitoes. When we sit down at the table the waiter brings a can of anti mosquito spray. We don\u2019t sleep wellt hat night and leave around 9am. However, we just drove a short distance, when we stop at a huge Artesania shop, that was recommended by Erika. Of course we don\u2019t leave empty handed and Ralph even buys a really colorful shirt. We then continue to Panama City where we stay close to the Country Inn at a blocked road directly besides the canal. We take the short walkt o the Balboa Yachting Club to use their WiFi and when it starts raining Herma picks us up with umbrellas. The next day is dedicated to the Miraflores Visitor Center at the SCHLEUSEN of the Panama Canal. Unfortunately we can only see one big ship being maneuvered through the locks from the totally crowded viewing point. We decide to spend the night at the parking lot and after 6am more ships are passing the canal and we have a good view. In the morning we drive to the old town center of Panama City. Some of the houses are very nice and renovated but some are still looking very derelict. I read something of a Corpus Christi parade which I would like to see. Herma & Manni already leave since we want to meet Marion & Bernd again. They already delivered their camper at the harbor for shipping to Caragena. Together we stroll through the city and watch a children dancing group at the Zocalo. After lunch it is time to say (again and finally) goodbye to Marion & Bernd. We spend the night at the Country Inn again. Since our departure date is approaching we drive tot he offices of Wilhelmsen to check the further procedure. Since the departure date was moved 11th June is the first possible day for us to deliver the cars at the harbor without any charges. For the night we drive back to the Country Inn but this time stay at the parking of the stadium. The next day we want to visit Multiplaza Mall. The 1st parking lot has a height restriction and at the 2nd we don\u2019t get a ticket since the automatic gate doesn\u2019t recognize our RV. A security guy lets us in and tells us to contact him, when we want to get out again. In the mall we treat ourselves to a chair massage. In the late afternoon we drive the causeway and stop at the parking at a paintball hall. We walk along the beachfront and wait fort he blue hour (magic hour) since Ralph wants to take a panoramic picture from here. Around 10pm we are chased away from the parking and drive back to the stadium. In the morning we want to prepare for the next day and check where we can stay for the night close to the DIJ to be early at the police station for the check and paperwork. Once we parked the car, we want to walk to a market that I saw from one of the bridges. However, local police stop us and ask us to not continue as this is an unsecure area. We decide to drive back to the parking at the beach and go for a walk. In the evening we shortly meet with Herma & Manni and after agreeing on tomorrows plan go to bed early. We rise at 5am and leave at 5:15am. The gate at the police station where the cars are inspected for export is still closed but there are already a few cars waiting. We\u2019re number 4 & 5. At 7am a police officer appears, gathers the people and holds a short speech (in Spanish) and then checks the cars. At 7:45am we\u2019re done and leave for Albrook Mall until we nned to go back to the DIJ at 1:30 pm to fetch our papers. At 3:15pm we have everything we need and drive to Wilhelmsen to deal with the remaining paper work. We leave at 4:20pm and drive towards Colon. A bit outside oft he city we booked places at Rancho Juancho for the last couple of days. Due to rush hour and an accident the trip takes us much longer than expected and we only arrive there at 8pm. Veronika & Eddie, the owners, are already waiting for us and we enjoy a dinner at their restaurant. There is a beautiful viewover the pacific ocean from the terrace but the weather impacts our energy. The temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius and the high humidity makes each step an effort. We spend the next 3 days with cleaning and sorting stuff that we are not allowed to leave in the car and then leave for the final step. We drive to Colon harbour and handover our cars. With a bit confusion and Manni\u2019s help (Ralph gives me the bag with the money when he drives into the customs area and then can\u2019t pay the fee) we manage this as well. We take a taxi that brings us to a small hotel in Panama City. We have lunch just across the hotel and spend the evening at the bar. After breakfast Ralph and I are the 1st to leave since our flight is much earlier than Herma & Manni\u2019s. The driver is familiar with the traffic and the city and brings us to the airport well in time. The check in is without any problems and thus we are back in Germany on 13th June 2019 at 9:30am where Gudrun is already waiting and brings us home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
