Von Esquel aus fahren wir zur\u00fcck zur Ruta 40. Dann geht es noch weiter Richtung S\u00fcden, bis wir in Tecka auf die Ruta 25 nach Osten abbiegen. An der Tankstelle treffen wir noch Jenny und Tamara, die mit VW Bus und Hund unterwegs sind. Sie fahren genau entgegengesetzt und bei einer Tasse Kaffee tauschen wir noch ein paar Infos aus. Das erste und das letzte St\u00fcck der Ruta 25 ist recht eint\u00f6nig. Allerdings hinter Paso de Indios, wo wir in einer Kiesgrube \u00fcbernachten, kommen wir uns vor, wie in Monument Valley. Die Berge neben der Stra\u00dfe sind schon recht beeindruckend und f\u00fcr uns eine willkommene Abwechslung. Auch sehen wir hier die ersten Guanacos, bekommen sie aber noch nicht \u201eaufs Bild\u201c. Am n\u00e4chsten Tag macht der Druckluftbeh\u00e4lter Probleme. Er hat sich wohl auf den vielen Schotterstra\u00dfen losger\u00fcttelt. In Las Plumas stoppen wir an der Tankstelle und kaufen ein St\u00fcck weiter bei einer Autowerkstatt 5 Liter Getriebe\u00f6l. Damit sollten wir jetzt eine Weile auskommen. Da Ralph den Druckluftbeh\u00e4lter schneller repariert bekommt, fahren wir dann auch noch weiter. F\u00fcr die \u00dcbernachtung biegen wir auf die RN31 ab und fahren nach Dique Florentino Ameghino. Die letzten paar Kilometer sind beeindrucken und wir finden am Auslauf hinter dem Stausee einen sch\u00f6nen kleinen Stellplatz direkt am Wasser und umgeben von Bergen. Nachts kommt die Polizei, will aber nur wissen, ob alles ok ist. Obwohl es nachts windig war, haben wir gut geschlafen. Nachdem wir wieder zur\u00fcck auf der Ruta 25 sind, ist die Fahrerei so \u00f6de, dass wir tauschen wollen. Leider l\u00e4sst sich der Fahrersitz nicht verstellen und Ralph muss weiter \u00fcber Trelew bis Rawson fahren. Als wir in Trelew einen Einkaufsstop machen, erleben wir mal wieder eine \u00dcberraschung. Ich hatte morgens die H\u00e4ngeschr\u00e4nke nicht zus\u00e4tzlich gesichert. Die Push Locks haben nicht gehalten und die Tupperdosen liegen auf dem Boden. Zum Gl\u00fcck sind nur die Dosen mit Reis, Walnuss und gemahlenen Mandeln aufgegangen. In Rawson finden wir an der Playa Union einen Stellplatz und laufen noch ein St\u00fcck den Strand entlang. Die Nacht ist relativ unruhig. Als n\u00e4chstes wollen wir Punta Ninfas besuchen, wo es Seeelefanten, Kormorane und Pinguine zu sehen gibt. Daf\u00fcr m\u00fcssen wir auf die Ruta 1, die wieder Schotterstra\u00dfe ist. Die ersten Kilometer haben wir das Gef\u00fchl, durch eine M\u00fclldeponie zu fahren. So viel Dreck und Abfall haben wir in Argentinien noch nicht neben der Stra\u00dfe gesehen. Wir vermuten aber, dass ein Sturm die eigentliche M\u00fclldeponie umgeschichtet und verteilt hat, denn das Gel\u00e4nde geh\u00f6rt schon zu einem Biosph\u00e4ren Reservat. Nach ein paar km geht es ab auf die Ruta 6 und dann sind es noch 66 km. Nach ca. 9 km geben wir auf und drehen um. Die Strecke ist so schlecht, dass sich der Aufwand f\u00fcr das, was zu sehen ist, nicht lohnt. Also fahren wir \u00fcber die Ruta 1 direkt weiter nach Puerto Madryn. Dort fahren wir am Meer entlang nochmal ca. 11 km s\u00fcdlich und finden einen sch\u00f6nen Stellplatz an der Playa Avanzado. Ralph geht abends nochmal raus zum Sterne fotografieren. Dabei hat er einen tollen Lichteffekt, der durch das Lagerfeuer einer Gruppe Jugendlicher entsteht. Die n\u00e4chsten Wochen erkunden wir die Stellplatzm\u00f6glichkeiten von Puerto Madryn, denn hier wollen wir uns Weihnachten mit Irmgard und Klaus treffen. Immer wieder fahren wir mal in die Stadt, um einzukaufen, Wasser zu tanken oder an der Strandpromenade zu bummeln. Hier treffen wir auch auf Marco und Eva, die mit ihrem MAN unterwegs sind. Zusammen fahren wir einen Tag ein bisschen in die D\u00fcnen und proben die Gel\u00e4ndetauglichkeit der Fahrzeuge und ihrer Fahrer. Einmal m\u00fcssen wir Albatros aus einer Sandd\u00fcne ausbuddeln. Einen Nachmittag fahren wir ins Museo de Gemas, Rocas y Minerales. Die Begutachtung unserer Fundst\u00fccke erfolgt sehr schnell und ist ein wenig ern\u00fcchternd, h\u00e4lt Ralph aber trotzdem nicht davon ab, weiter zu sammeln. F\u00fcr 3 Tage fahren wir auf die Halbinsel Valdes. Im Nachhinein fragen wir uns, ob sich das gelohnt hat. Man darf nur in einem Ort \u00fcbernachten und von dort aus kann man zwei verschiedene Stationen besichtigen. Beide Stationen sind \u00fcber ca. 75-80 km Schotterstra\u00dfe zu erreichen. An einer gibt es Seel\u00f6wen, Seeelefanten und Robben zu sehen und an der anderen zus\u00e4tzlich noch Pinguine. In der Walsaison (Juli \u2013 Oktober) hat man hier auch gute Chancen auf Walsichtungen aber im Dezember ist das nur noch mit einer Tour oder mit Gl\u00fcck m\u00f6glich. Wir haben Gl\u00fcck und sehen einen Orca in Caleta Valdes. Allerdings ist er ein ganzes St\u00fcck drau\u00dfen. Die restliche Zeit verbringen wir mit kleineren Reparaturen und Umbauten am Unimog, backen, putzen und faulenzen.<\/p>\n

From Esquel we drive back to Ruta 40 and continue southwards until Tecka, where we turn East on Ruta 25. At the gas station we meet Jenny and Tamara who are traveling with their VV bus and a dog. They are driving in the opposite direction and we exchange a few info over a cup of coffee. The first and the last part of Ruta 25 is pretty boring but after Paso de Indios, where we spend the night in a a gravel pit, we feel as if we are driving through Monument Valley. The mountains besides the road are impressive and a welcome distraction for us. Additionally, we see the first Guanacos but can\u2019t yet capture them with the camera. The following day we have problems with the air pressure container. It obviously got loose on all the gravel roads. In Las Plumas we stop at a gas station and buy 5 liters transmission oil at a garage. This should keep us going for a while. Since Ralph can fix the issue with the air pressure container fast, we decide to move on for a bit. For the overnight stop we turn onto RN31 and drive to Dique Florentino Ameghino. The last few kilometers are very impressive and we find a nice place at the river and surrounded by beautiful mountains behind the reservoir. In the night the police stop by and ask if everything is ok. Although it was windy during the night, we slept well. After getting back on Ruta 25 the drive is so boring, that we decide to switch driving. Unfortunately, the driver seat is blocked and so Ralph has to continue via Trelew until we reach Rawson. In Trelew we stop for shopping and get a \u201cnice\u201d surprise. I didn\u2019t properly secure some of the cupboards. The push locks didn\u2019t hold and all Tupper boxes are on the floor. Luckily only the ones with rice, walnuts and grinded almonds were open. In Rawson we find a place at Playa Union and take a walk along the beach. The night is pretty noisy. Our next stop is planned for Punta Ninfas, where you can see sea lions, sea elephants, cormorants and penguins. To get there we need to take Ruta 1 which is a gravel road. The first few miles we feel as if we are driving to a huge waste deposit. We haven\u2019t seen this much waste and garbage along the road in Argentina before. Since this area is already part of a Bisophere Reserve, we suspect that this is the result of a storm, which shifted the garbage. After a couple of miles, we turn onto Ruta 6 and from there it is still 41 miles. However, after 5.5 miles we give up and turn back. The road is in such a bad shape, that we don\u2019t believe it is worth going it for what there is to see. Therefore, we take Ruta 1 to Puerto Madryn. Once there we drive 7 miles southwards along the ocean and find a nice place at Playa Avanzado. In the night Ralph goes outside to take pictures of the starry sky and has a pretty nice effect from a campfire in the dunes. Over the next couple of weeks, we check various options for overnight places since we\u2019ll meet Irmgard and Klaus here for Christmas. Every now and then we drive into town to shop, refill our water tanks and to stroll along the waterfront. We meet Marco and Eva who are travelling with their MAN. Together we drive in the dunes one day and check the off-road capabilities of the vehicles and their drivers. Once we have to dig Albatros out of a sand dune. One afternoon we visit the Museo de Gemas, Rocas y Minerales. The evaluation of our findings is done pretty fast and the outcome is a bit disappointing but it doesn\u2019t keep Ralph from continue collecting stones. We spend 3 days on Peninsula Valdes and afterwards ask ourselves, if it really was worth it. It is only allowed to overnight in Puerto Pyramides, from where we can drive to two different points. Both points are reachable via approx. 47-50 miles of gravel roads. At Punta Norte there are sea lions, sea elephants and seals. At Caleta Valdes additionally there are penguins. During whale season (July \u2013 October) there is a good chance to see whales but in December this is only doable with a boat tour or a bit of luck. We are lucky and see an Orca at Caleta Valdes but it is quite a bit off shore. The remaining time we spend with some minor repairs and improvements at our Unimog, baking Christmas cookies, cleaning and just enjoying the weather and the countryside.<\/p>\n
