Da wir wegen der Grenzkontrollen keine frischen Lebensmittel mehr haben, suchen wir als erstes einen Supermarkt, wo wir mit Kreditkarte bezahlen k\u00f6nnen, bzw. eine Bank um Geld abzuheben, denn wir wollen in den Nationalpark Pali Aike, der unmittelbar hinter der Grenze liegt. Nach einigem Hin und Her finden wir mit Hilfe eines freundlichen Polizisten einen Supermarkt in San Gregorio, wo wir die n\u00f6tigsten Sachen einkaufen. Am Nationalpark angekommen, sagt uns die Rangerin, dass die Info des Polizisten, hier auch mit argentinischem Peso zahlen zu k\u00f6nnen, falsch ist. Da wir aber jetzt schon mal hier \u201ein the middle of nowhere\u201c sind, macht sie eine Ausnahme und rechnet den Eintrittspreis um. Im Park gibt es zwei interessante Punkte. Einmal einen Kratersee und dann einen Bereich mit H\u00f6hlen und ein paar Wanderwegen. Nur in diesem Bereich d\u00fcrfen wir \u00fcbernachten. Da es schon nachmittags ist, beschlie\u00dfen wir also, erst die H\u00f6hlen und am n\u00e4chsten Morgen den Kratersee zu besichtigen. Der Weg an den H\u00f6hlen ist zwar ganz interessant, aber man kann nicht wirklich in H\u00f6hlen rein und von den im Reisef\u00fchrer erw\u00e4hnten Felszeichnungen sehen wir auch nichts. Ralph l\u00e4uft dann noch ein St\u00fcck eines anderen Wanderweges und wird auf dem R\u00fcckweg prompt vom starken Wind umgeworfen. Danach suchen wir uns einen halbwegs windgesch\u00fctzten Stellplatz im Bereich der Picknick H\u00fctten. Am Morgen merken wir, dass wir gestern die falsche Entscheidung getroffen haben. Wir h\u00e4tten erst den Kratersee und dann die H\u00f6hlen machen sollen. Jetzt regnet es und es lohnt sich nicht, zum See raus zu fahren. Also verlassen wir den Park und fahren zur F\u00e4hre \u00fcber die Magellan Stra\u00dfe. Dort geht es z\u00fcgig weiter und so sind wir schon um 12h auf der anderen Seite. Wir fahren nur noch bis Cerro Sombrero, wo wir uns bei der Tourist Information ein paar Infos holen wollen. Dort angekommen stehen dort schon 3 deutsche Wohnmobile. Eines hatten wir schon in Puerto Piramides getroffen, die beiden anderen (aus Darmstadt und Vorpommern-R\u00fcgen) kennen wir noch nicht. Die Tourist Information ist geschlossen, daf\u00fcr gibt es aber gutes WiFi und direkt nebenan ein tolles Sanit\u00e4rgeb\u00e4ude mit sehr guten und sehr sauberen Duschen. Wir beschlie\u00dfen, stehen zu bleiben und das zu nutzen. Was f\u00fcr ein Gef\u00fchl, eine hei\u00dfe Dusche zu haben und alles Shampoo abzusp\u00fclen, ohne sich Gedanken \u00fcber die Menge Wasser, die noch im Tank ist, machen zu m\u00fcssen. Das deutsche Wohnmobil aus VR f\u00e4hrt weiter und daf\u00fcr kommen dann noch Marieke & Michiel und sp\u00e4ter auch Floor & Johan noch an. Irmgard & Klaus haben uns gestern per WhatsApp informiert, dass sie bei einem Refugio (Schutzh\u00fctte f\u00fcr Wanderer & Radfahrer) stehen und wir uns abends dort reinsetzen k\u00f6nnen, wenn wir Feuerholz mitbringen. Also machen wir uns morgens erstmal auf die Suche, sind aber erfolglos. Dann sammeln wir eben auf dem Weg zum Parque Pinguino Rey noch etwas Holz am Stra\u00dfenrand ein. Unterwegs sehen wir ein totes Guanaco neben der Stra\u00dfe und ein junger Fuchs holt sich gerade sein Essen. Ca. 15 km s\u00fcdlich von Onansin hat sich 2010 eine kleine Kolonie von K\u00f6nigspinguinen niedergelassen. Auf dem Weg dorthin gelangen wir dann noch in einen Schaftrieb. Man kann die Pinguine, die sonst nur in der Antarktis leben, von zwei Unterst\u00e4nden aus beobachten, kommt aber nicht sehr nah an sie ran. Anschlie\u00dfend fahren wir noch ca. 1 km bis zum Refugio und verbringen dort einen netten Abend am Holzofen. Als wir aufstehen, fahren Irmgard & Klaus schon los. Wir starten dann ca. 1 Stunde sp\u00e4ter und sind schnell an der Grenze in San Sebastian. Auch hier klappt die Aus- und Einreise ohne Probleme. Auf der chilenischen Seite stehen zwar 3 Tourbusse, aber es gibt extra Schalter f\u00fcr Leute, die mit eigenem Fahrzeug \u00fcber die Grenze gehen. Nachdem wir aus Chile ausgereist sind, m\u00fcssen wir ca. 14 km durch Niemandsland fahren, ehe wir auf argentinischer Seite wieder einreisen. Diesmal wird unser Auto nicht auf Lebensmitteln kontrolliert.<\/p>\n

English Version (no translation of German text)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since we don\u2019t have fresh food anymore and are planning to visit the National Park Pali Aike directly at the border, our first goal is to either find a supermarket where we can pay with credit card or a bank to withdraw cash. After a bit of back and forth and the help of a nice police man we find a supermarket in San Gregorio and buy the essential stuff. Once we reach the entrance to the National Park, the ranger tells us, that the other information from the police man is wrong. We can\u2019t pay the entrance fee in Argentinian Peso. However, since we are already there \u201cin the middle of nowhere\u201d she makes an exception and calculates the entrance fee in Argentinian Peso. There are two areas of interest in the park. One is a crater lake and the other has caves and some walking trails. Only at the latter are we allowed to stay for the night. We decide to do the caves today and then the carter lake in the morning. The trail along the cave is not bad, but we can\u2019t really go into caves and we don\u2019t see any of the paintings that we ready about in the tour book. Ralph decides to walk the first part of one of the other trails and on his way back, he is blown over by the strong wind. We then find a place at the picnic area with a bit of wind shelter. In the morning we realize that we yesterday we made the wrong decision. We should have gone to the crater lake first and then done the caves. Now it is raining and it doesn\u2019t make sense to go to the lake. Therefore, we leave the park and drive to the ferry across the Magellan Strait. WE can board pretty fast and at are already on the other side at 12h. We only drive until we reach Cerro Sombrereo, where we are planning to get some information at the tourist office. 3 German RVs are already parked there. One we already met at Puerto Piramides but we don\u2019t know the other two (one from Darmstadt and the other from Vorpommern-R\u00fcgen). The tourist office is closed but they have good Wi-Fi and just besides the office there is a sanitary building with very good and very clean showers. We decide to stay and make use of this. What a feeling, to have a hot shower and rinse of all the shampoo without having to think about the amount of water in the tank. The RV from Vorpommern-R\u00fcgen leaves and shortly thereafter Marieke & Michiel and later on Floor & Johan arrive. Irmgard & Klaus send us a WhatsApp message, that they would wait for us at a Refugio and we could sit inside it if we bring some fire wood. Therefore, we try to find fire wood but are not successful. Then we have to collect some from the street on the way to Parque Pinguino Rey. At some point we see a dead Guanaco besides the road and a young fox is just getting his meal. Approximately 15 km south of Onansin a group of king penguins has settled in 2010 but before we get there, we get into a herd of sheep first. The penguins can be watched from two view points but you don\u2019t get very close. Afterwards we drive the 1 km to the refugio and spend a nice evening at its wood stove. As we just get up in the morning, Irmgard & Klaus are already ready to go. We leave about an hour later and soon reach the border in San Sebastian. Again everything is easy and we pass without problems, although on the Chilean side there were 3 tour busses ahead of us. Luckily, they opened separate counters for people crossing with their own cars. After we official emigrated from Chile, we have drive approx. 14 km through No-man\u2019s-land before we reach the Argentinian side. This time there was no check for food.<\/p>\n
