Nach 5 Tagen Wartungsarbeiten, W\u00e4sche waschen und Ruhe machen wir uns wieder auf den Weg. Wir fahren weiter \u00fcber die RN40. Die ersten 120 km davon Schotter. Die Stra\u00dfe ist \u00fcberwiegend eng, h\u00fcgelig und sehr kurvig. Daf\u00fcr ist die Landschaft interessant. Zur Abwechslung f\u00fchrt der Flu\u00df neben uns tats\u00e4chlich Wasser und wir sehen gr\u00fcne Wiesen und B\u00e4ume. Aber auch die Bergformationen sind beeindruckend. Wir \u00fcbernachten unterwegs noch einmal, ehe wir San Carlos, ein nettes, sauberes und verschlafenes \u00d6rtchen erreichen. Ab hier ist die Stra\u00dfe wieder geteert. In Cafayate orientieren wir uns erstmal und fahren dann f\u00fcr die Nacht wieder ein St\u00fcck zur\u00fcck in die \u201eWeinberge\u201c, wo wir einen tollen Blick auf die Berge haben. Am sp\u00e4ten Vormittag fahren wir zur\u00fcck in die Stadt und halten am ersten Weingut an. Dort geht gerade eine F\u00fchrung zu Ende. Wir erkundigen uns, ob es auch F\u00fchrungen (mit Weinprobe) in Englisch gibt. Wir k\u00f6nnten sofort eine haben, entscheiden uns aber, erstmal noch nach anderen Weing\u00fctern zu schauen, da es uns f\u00fcr die Weinprobe noch zu fr\u00fch am Tag ist. Wir parken das Auto einen Block von der Hauptstra\u00dfe entfernt und laufen zu Fu\u00df weiter. Als erstes landen wir in einem regionalen Laden und kaufen N\u00fcsse und Trockenfr\u00fcchte. Dann laufen wir weiter und landen im Weingut Nanni. Eine F\u00fchrung k\u00f6nnen wir erst um 15h machen, aber wir wollten sowieso im Restaurant etwas essen.  Das Essen ist zwar f\u00fcr argentinische Verh\u00e4ltnisse teuer, aber auch wirklich sehr gut. Da wir die einzigen Teilnehmer der F\u00fchrung sind, findet sie f\u00fcr uns auf Englisch statt. So verstehen wir doch ein bisschen mehr. Das Weingut ist eher klein (400.000 Flaschen pro Jahr) und alle Weine sind zertifizierte Bioweine. Wir entscheiden uns, f\u00fcr die Verkostung von 3 Weinen (5 w\u00e4ren auch m\u00f6glich gewesen) und verlassen das Haus nat\u00fcrlich nicht mit leeren H\u00e4nden. Als n\u00e4chstes fahren wir noch zu einer K\u00e4serei. Hier sind wir leider f\u00fcr eine F\u00fchrung zu sp\u00e4t, aber Ralph kann wenigsten noch eine Verkostung machen und auch hier was kaufen. Die Nacht verbringen wir auf dem Parkplatz am Busbahnhof. Unser erstes Ziel am n\u00e4chsten Morgen ist die Ausgrabungsst\u00e4tte von Quilmes. Als erstes schauen wir uns einen guten Film mit englischen Untertiteln an. Alle anderen Infos sind dann leider wieder nur auf Spanisch verf\u00fcgbar. Nachdem wir durch die Reste der Siedlung gelaufen sind, machen wir Mittagspause, und fahren dann weiter. Ein St\u00fcck weiter biegen wir auf die RP307 ab und folgen dem Rio Tafi. Die Stra\u00dfe ist zwar geteert, aber durch Schlagl\u00f6cher und Flickschusterei auch nicht viel besser, als eine gute Schotterstra\u00dfe. Es geht mal wieder rauf und runter (zwischenzeitlich sind wir wieder auf \u00fcber 3.000 Metern) und ist dadurch sehr kurvig. Auch die Aussicht ist nicht so toll, wie wir sie uns aufgrund der Beschreibung im Reisef\u00fchrer erhofft hatten. Das lag aber wahrscheinlich daran, dass der Himmel ziemlich bedeckt und tr\u00fcbe war. In Tafi del Valle \u00fcbernachten wir auf dem Camping Municipal. Da wir den Platz bis 10h r\u00e4umen m\u00fcssen, sind wir fr\u00fch auf. Es ist kalt und drau\u00dfen ist alles diesig. Die Sichtweite betr\u00e4gt nur 20-40 Meter. Nach einer kleinen Irrfahrt durch die Stadt (Einbahnstra\u00dfen, niedrige Br\u00fccke) geht es dann weiter. Bei El Mollar machen wir einen Abstecher zu den Menhiren. Der Besuch f\u00e4llt allerdings wegen des k\u00fchlen Wetters ziemlich kurz aus. Auch die weitere Fahrt ist wieder sehr kurvig; auf 23 km \u00fcberwinden wir 1.400 H\u00f6henmeter. Nachdem wir unterhalb der Wolkendecke sind und es etwas sonnig wird, fahren wir durch eine richtige Urwaldlandschaft. Rechts und links ist alles gr\u00fcn. Wir sehen viele Gr\u00e4ser und Epiphyten in den B\u00e4umen. Nach einer Mittagspause in Acheral sind wir wieder auf gr\u00f6\u00dferen Stra\u00dfen unterwegs und sehen riesige Zuckerrohrfelder. Eine Zeit lang stehen \u00fcberall neben der Stra\u00dfe St\u00e4nde, an denen Avocados verkauft werden.  In Termas Rio del Hondo gehen wir auf den Camping del Rio und genie\u00dfen abends noch ein Bad im hei\u00dfen Pool. Da Ralph schlecht geschlafen hat, beschlie\u00dfen wir spontan, noch einen Tag zu bleiben und so laufen wir durch die Stadt und gehen Pizza essen. Zum Geld holen sind wir zu sp\u00e4t, aber als wir morgens die Stadt verlassen, sehe ich einen WesterUnion Standort. Wir halten an und ich gehe Geld holen. Wie sich sp\u00e4ter herausstellt, war das keine gute Entscheidung. Zuerst muss ich ca. \u00bd Stunde warten, bis der \u201eChef\u201c zur\u00fcck ist, dann bekomme ich einen schlechteren Wechselkurs (abgerechnet wurde aber der f\u00fcr mich bessere Kurs). Bis Santiago del Estero folgen wir wieder der RN9, die hier sehr eint\u00f6nig ist. Nachdem wir im Supermarkt unsere Vorr\u00e4te aufgef\u00fcllt haben, beginnt eine kleine Irrfahrt zum Camping Municipal. Am Morgen fahren wir zum Paseo del Indio Frolain. Das ist eine Trommelwerkstatt, die jeden Sonntag offen f\u00fcr Publikum ist. Das Ganze entpuppt sich dann als riesiger Innenhof mit Werkstatt, jeder Menge Sitzgelegenheiten und vielen Imbiss- und Souvenirst\u00e4nden. Ab nachmittags gibt es ein musikalisches Programm. Zuerst aus der Konserve und sp\u00e4ter wird dann Live gespielt. Die Argentinier sind mit viel Lebensfreude und Spa\u00df dabei und wir beobachten sie beim Tanzen. Ein \u00e4lteres Ehepaar (\u00fcber 80) in Trachten trippelt h\u00e4ndchenhaltend \u00fcber den Platz, ist sp\u00e4ter beim Tanzen aber kaum zu stoppen. Ein Mann, der vermutlich nach einem Schlaganfall halbseitig gel\u00e4hmt ist, stellt sich mit seinem Stock auf die Tanzfl\u00e4che, damit seine Frau mit ihm tanzen kann. Auch eine Gruppe mit leicht mongoloiden Gesichtsz\u00fcgen ist voll in ihrem Element und setzt keinen Tanz aus. Sie machen wahrscheinlich ihren Sonntagsausflug hierin, denn ich erfahre sp\u00e4ter, dass sie ein paar Wochen vorher auch da waren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 5 days of maintenance, laundry and rest, we hit the road again. We continue on RN40. The first 120 km of it are gravel. The road is mostly narrow, hilly and very winding. But the landscape is interesting. For a change, the river next to us actually carries water and we see green meadows and trees and the mountain formations are impressive. We spend another night besides the road before we reach San Carlos, a nice, clean and sleepy village. Now the road is paved again. In Cafayate we have a look around and then drive back into the „vineyards“ for the night. From our site we have a great view of the mountains. In the late morning we drive back to town and stop at the first winery. A guided tour has just ended. We ask if there are guided tours (with wine tasting) in English. We could have one right away, but decide to look for other wineries first, since it is still too early in the day for wine tasting. We park the car a block away from the main street and walk into town. The first stop is at a regional store and we buy nuts and dried fruit. Then we move on and end up at the Nanni winery. We can’t take a guided tour until 15h, but we wanted to eat something in the restaurant anyway.  The food is expensive by Argentine standards, but also really very good. Since we are the only participants of the tour, we get English explanations and therefore understand a bit more. The winery is rather small (400,000 bottles per year) and all wines are certified organic. We decide to taste 3 wines (5 would also have been possible) and of course do not leave empty-handed. Our next stop is at a cheese dairy. Unfortunately, we are too late for a guided tour, but Ralph can at least have the tasting and buy some cheese. We spend the night in the parking lot at the bus station. In the morning we move on to the excavation site of Quilmes. In the museum they offer a good movie with English subtitles. All other info is again only available in Spanish. After walking through the remains of the settlement, we have lunch and then drive on. A little further down RN9 we turn onto RP307 and follow Rio Tafi. The road is paved, but due to potholes and patching it is not much better than a good gravel road. It goes up and down (meanwhile we are again at over 3,000 meters) and is very curvy. And, the view is not as great as we had hoped for after reading the description in the guidebook; probably due to the fact that the sky was quite overcast and cloudy. In Tafi del Valle we spend the night at the Camping Municipal. Since we have to vacate the site by 10 am, we are up early. It is cold and outside everything is hazy. The visibility is only 20-40 meters. After a small odyssey through the city (one-way streets, low bridge) we continue. At El Mollar we make a detour to the menhirs. The visit is quite short because of the cool weather. The rest of the trip is again very curvy; on 23 km we overcome 1,400 meters of altitude. After we are below the clouds and it gets a bit sunny, we drive through a real jungle landscape. On both sides of the road everything is green. We see many grasses and epiphytes in the trees. After a lunch break in Acheral we are on bigger roads again. Now we see huge sugar cane fields and for a while there are a lot of booths next to the road where locals sell avocados.  In Termas Rio Hondo we stay at Camping del Rio and enjoy a bath in the hot pool in the evening. Since Ralph has slept badly, we spontaneously decide to stay another day and so we walk through the city and have some pizza. To get cash we are unfortunately too late. When we leave town in the morning, I see a WesterUnion location. We stop and I drop in. As it later turns out, that was not a good decision. At first, I have to wait about \u00bd hour until the „boss“ is back, then I get a worse exchange rate than confirmed (but he charged the (for me) better rate at WU). Again RN9, is very monotonous until we reach Santiago del Estero. After we have filled up our supplies in the supermarket, we endure a small odyssey to reach Camping Municipal. In the morning we change location and drive to Paseo del Indio Frolain. This is a drum workshop that is open to the public every Sunday. The workshop turns out to be a huge courtyard with lots of seating and many snack and souvenir booths. From early afternoon until late evening there is a musical program. First it is from a CD player but later they have live music. The Argentineans are full of joie de vivre and fun and we watch them dancing. An older couple (over 80) in traditional costumes tripped across the square holding hands, but later they could hardly be stopped dancing. A man, who is probably hemiplegic after a stroke, stands on the dance floor with his cane so that his wife can dance with him. A group with slightly mongoloid features is also fully enjoying the afternoon and don’t skip a dance. They probably have their weekly Sunday excursion, because I find out later, that they were also there a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
