Auf dem letzten St\u00fcck Richtung Niagara Falls f\u00e4llt uns auf, dass es hier viele Weing\u00fcter gibt. Die Weinst\u00f6cke stehen oft direkt neben der Stra\u00dfe.
\nIm Ort steuern wir als erstes die Touristinformation an um uns nach einem Campingplatz zu erkundigen. Die junge Frau ist sehr hilfsbereit und ruft ein paar Pl\u00e4tze an. Alle sind geschlossen bis auf einen und der hat erst in einer Woche wieder einen Platz frei. Mal wieder wird uns Walmart Camping empfohlen und auch direkt auf dem Stadtplan markiert. Um an die Niagara F\u00e4lle zu kommen, sollen wir aber lieber zum Parplatz am Skylon Tower und Imax fahren. Dort gibt es eine Tagesgeb\u00fchr und es ist nicht weit zu laufen. Der Platz ist relativ leer und als Ralph die Parkgeb\u00fchr bezahlt, fragt er nach, ob wir dort auch \u00fcber Nacht stehen bleiben d\u00fcrfen. Das ist kein Problem, da es sich um ein 24-Stunden Ticket handelt. Da das Wetter noch sch\u00f6n ist laufen wir direkt mit den Kameras los. Irgendwie ist das ganze dann anders, als wir erwartet hatten. Es ist kein Park in den man Eintritt bezahlen muss sondern man l\u00e4uft einfach durch den Ort bis runter ans Flu\u00dfufer. Auf der anderen Seite kann man die F\u00e4lle dann sehen. Abends laufen wir nochmal los, sind jedoch f\u00fcr die blaue Stunde etwas sp\u00e4t dran. Daf\u00fcr sind die F\u00e4lle dann schon bunt angestrahlt. Der n\u00e4chste Tag ist von der Wettervorhersage schlecht. Wir beschlie\u00dfen aber trotzdem noch zu bleiben. Tags\u00fcber fahren wir zu einem gro\u00dfen Souvenirshop mit Glasbl\u00e4serei. P\u00fcnktlich um 17:00h als wir uns fertig machen, um wieder zu den F\u00e4llen zu gehen, f\u00e4ngt es an zu regnen.
\nUnsere Batterie f\u00fcr die Kabine ist ziemlich leer. So fahren wir am n\u00e4chsten Morgen weiter. Nun geht es endg\u00fcltig Richtung Westen. In Barrie machen wir Mittagspause und da wir keinen Truck Stop finden, steuern wir in Parry Sound mal wieder Walmart an. Der Ladestand der Batterie ist immer noch niedrig. Es scheint so als w\u00fcrde die Lichtmaschine nicht richtig laden und Ralph schmei\u00dft abends noch den Generator an. Am n\u00e4chsten Morgen werden wir auf dem Parkplatz von einem deutschen Paar aus Hamburg angesprochen, die hier Familie besuchen. Als sie von unserem Problem h\u00f6ren, fahren sie mit uns zu einem Cousin um die Adresse von einem anderen Cousin mit Autowerkstatt zu holen. Dann fahren sie noch mit uns zur Werkstatt. Der Cousin schaut sich die Lichtmaschine an und es scheint ein Wackelkontakt zu sein. Unser weiterer Weg f\u00fchrt uns nach Sudbury. Unterwegs haben wir immer wieder sch\u00f6ne Ausblicke auf Seen und Moore. In Sudbury fahren wir zum Waste Water Management um unseren Abwassertank zu leeren. An einer Ampel steht ein Auto, aus dem wir fotografiert werden. Beim Waste Water Management kommt das Auto dann auch wieder. Es ist ein Vater mit seinem Sohn, der total besessen von europ\u00e4ischen Trucks ist. Er erkennt sofort, dass es ein Unimog ist und ist total begeistert, dass er mal einen \u201elive\u201c erlebt. Anschlie\u00dfend fahren wir wieder zum Walmart. Dort schaut Ralph sich nochmal die Lichtmaschine an \u2013 sie l\u00e4dt immer noch nicht richtig \u2013 und wird von einer jungen Frau angesprochen. Ihr Vater h\u00e4tte uns bei Halifax gesehen und Fotos von Albatros gemacht. Als sie h\u00f6rt, dass wir auf dem Parkplatz \u00fcbernachten wollen, ruft sie ihren Vater an und fragt, ob wir auch auf seinem Grundst\u00fcck stehen k\u00f6nnten. Er wohnt ca. 50 km weiter auf unserer Strecke. Nach einigen \u00dcberlegungen nehmen wir das Angebot an und fahren noch bis Worthington. Dort werden wir von Bill, Sylviane, Paul (Bill\u2019s Bruder aus Niagara Falls) und dem Husky Hobby begr\u00fc\u00dft. Wir erz\u00e4hlen ein bi\u00dfchen und dann stellen die M\u00e4nner das Auto um und schlie\u00dfen uns sogar ans Stromnetz, damit wir das Ladeger\u00e4t anschlie\u00dfen k\u00f6nnen. F\u00fcr den n\u00e4chsten Morgen werden wir zum Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck eingeladen. Da die Batterie immer noch nicht voll ist, nehmen wir Bill\u2019s Angebot an und machen einen Ruhetag. W\u00e4hrend ich das Angebot zu duschen annehme, fahren die M\u00e4nner eine Runde mit dem Boot und Ralph macht ein paar Aufnahmen. Das Grundst\u00fcck liegt direkt am Flu\u00df. Nachmittags gehe ich mit Sylviane eine Runde mit dem Hund. Ralph arbeitet in der Zeit schon an seinen Bildern und setzt ein Panorama zusammen. Als w\u00e4re das alles nicht genug, werden wir abends sogar noch bekocht. Es gibt Salat, Regenbogenforelle mit K\u00f6pfen des Strau\u00dfenfarns und Zucchini, K\u00e4se und Brotpudding. Nach der Ruhe und dem tollen Essen, f\u00e4llt uns der Abschied am n\u00e4chsten Tag schwer, doch wir m\u00fcssen weiter, wenn wir den Westen noch vor dem richtigen Winter erreichen wollen. While approaching Niagara Falls we note a lot of wine yards directly besides the highway.
\nOur first stop is at the VIC to inquire about a campground. The lady is very helpful and calls a couple of places. All are close except one which is fully booked and only has a space available next week. Again Walmart Camping is recommended and marked on the map. To go and see the falls she recommends the parking lot between Skylon Tower and IMAX. There is a fixed fee for all day parking and it is close by. There aren\u2019t many cars on the lot and when Ralph pays the fee he asks if we can stay for the night as well. This is no problem since it is a 24 hour ticket. Since the weather is still nice, we immediately head to the falls with our cameras. Somehow this is different than we expected. It is not a park where we need to pay an entrance fee. We rather just walk through the town to the river and can see the falls on the other side. We go down again later and are too late for the blue hour but the falls are illuminated with colors for the night. Although the weather forecast is not good we decide to stay for another night. During the day we drive to a big souvenir shop with glass blowing. Just as we get ready to go to the falls at 5 PM it starts raining.
\nThe battery for the cabin is pretty low. Therefore we head of on the next morning. Now the main direction is west. We have a lunch break in Barrie and since we can\u2019t find a Truck Stop we stop at Walmart in Parry Sound for the night. The battery is still low. It seems as if the generator doesn\u2019t work properly and Ralph starts our external generator. In the morning we are approached by a couple from Hamburg, who is visiting family. When they hear from our battery problem, they drive us to a cousin to get the address from another cousin who runs a garage. Afterwards they even drive us to the garage. The cousin checks the generator and it seems there is a loose connection. We continue our trip to Sudbury. On the way we often have nice views of lakes and moors. In Sudbury we drive to the Waste Water Management since we need to dump. At a traffic light we are photographed from a car which appears again at the Waste Water Management. It\u2019s a father with his son, who is besotted with European trucks. He immediately knows it is a Unimog and is happy to see one \u2018live\u2019. From there we drive to Walmart. Ralph checks the generator again \u2013 it still doesn\u2019t load the battery properly \u2013 and is approached by a young woman. Her father saw us in Nova Scotia and took some pictures from Albatros. When she hears that we are planning to stay at the Walmart for the night, she calls her father and asks if we could stay at his place. He lives approx. 50 km further on our way. After some considerations we decide to make use of the offer and we drive to Worthington, where we are received by Bill, Sylviane and Paul (Bill\u2019s brother from Niagara Falls) and Hobby, their Husky. We talk for a while and then then men find a place for Albatros and even connect us to the electricity so that we can connect the charger. We receive an invitation for breakfast in the morning. Since the battery still isn\u2019t fully loaded we accept Bill\u2019s offer and stay for another night. Whilst I use the opportunity to have a shower, the men go on a boat trip and Ralph takes some pictures. The property is directly at the river. In the afternoon Sylviane and I walk Hobby. Ralph meanwhile starts working on his pictures and prepares a panorama. As if this wouldn\u2019t be enough, we are being served a cooked meal of salad, rainbow trout with fiddler\u2019s heads and zucchini, cheese and bread pudding. After such a quiet day and the superb meal we don\u2019t want to say goodbye in the morning. However, if we want to reach the west coast before the real winter hits us, we have to move on.
